I hope we go gung-ho against Liverpool tomorrow. I have not seen us score enough goals in the last few months. Perhaps if we play Defoe, Pav and Crouch they can up their value by scoring...

... I fear we may get tonked tomorrow and get put firmly in our place.

Which, according to Harry, we should be happy with. How dare we expect to have more than 1 win in the last 14 (or whatever it is) and not have the worst record against the bottom 4, thereby securing 4th. We've never got it before this season, so why should we expect to get it beyond this season. We should be happy that we got to grace the same pitch as Real Madrid, and then get back down where we belong. Who needs ambition, just as long as my CV's intact.

When's Capello getting fired again?

I said at the start of the season I expected sixth and hoped for 5th as long as there was a good cup run in there, which there was.

Hence, I'm really not that unhappy. Not happy, either mind, and I certainly think Harry's assessment that this has been a "fantastic" season is deluded, naive and fantastical. But I'm still not unhappy about the final league placement whether it's fifth or sixth.

As to whether I'm unhappy that the manager feels I am an idiot. Well, that's a different matter.

If we hadn't imploded against the shit teams we'd have been 2nd or 3rd...

I assume 'clinched' in the thread title was used sarcastically.

Just a few months ago it would have been unbelievable that we'd finish outside the top 5. What a joke it would have been if a Gooner eg had said we'd finish 6th. He'd have gotten laughed out the room with a kick up his arse for his troubles.

The buck falls with Arry regardless of our goal shy forwards. I wouldn't be too disappointed if he quit for the England job.

I hope "clinch" 6th in style tomorrow. I hope to see signs of a motivated team playing with pride.

And if we'd 'imploded' in other games we'd have come 7th or 8th.

Don't get me wrong, I've been hugely frustrated and still feel we could have been genuine title contenders. But it was fucking hard to finish 4th and for the same reasons I had tears of joy rolling down my face when we did that I expected things to go against us this season, whether with injuries, refereeing calls or just that Man City are too good, for us to do it again.

As it turns out, the main reason was our strikers all went to shit. And Harry has failed to make the best use of the squad.

Both are out of my control so I am like the Murphy's.

Let's just hope we sign the right players (and, if sadly necessary, find a better manager, whoever that may be) to be able to come back stronger next season.

For me, what was difficult to take was the nature of out "point dropping". It wasn't as if we bummed out against the top teams after hard fought matches. We just didn't take the smaller teams seriously and got totally spanked for it. To me that's almost a school boy error.

 We all are, mate.

I'm definitely an idiot. I'm surprised I can even spell Tottingham.

So....6th? Considering how far ahead of Liverpool we were a few games ago, this really is a poor end to the season.

Not even the "besht of the resht" as Jol would say.

I agree with everything you have said and your previous post too.Perfectly put.
I would also like to add one further observation, our managers lack of tactical awareness (which includes playing players out of position).
I would like to add

Clearly with my useless computer skills I must be one of the idiots Harry is talking about.
