Great draw. What's our record like against Jose? We seem to match up well against his teams. We have nothing to fear.

Being a fan of Barca aswell just adds to the tie for me. Just like watching Barca beat Arsenal.

I just hope we have Bale, Lennon, Modric and VDV all available for both legs.

I reckon having Kaboul at fit at rb might be evn more important as well as having King fit.

A back 4 of Younes Gallas King BAE would be very strong and quick.

Not great.

Won once, drawn or lost the rest.

But in those games, when they were at their best and better than they are now and we were a far worse side, there were many close games.

I have a very strong feeling that we will beat them. I think we will beat them more easily at WHL than will beat us at the Bernabau.

This is a brilliant draw. Was hoping for Madrid or Barca. It's all about the glamour and they don't get much more glamourous than this!

Make no mistake a very tough draw and probably one of the hardest we could have got. We need to be on our attacking A game to stand any chance of winning this. If we play the defensive game like we did at home to AC we can forget about beating RM. We should play to our strengths and enjoy the occasion

I hope no one is upset with this draw :x

It's the best we could hope for - Barca, Utd, and Chelsea would all be harder for us, and you just know we'd lose if we were favorites. So perfect draw for me, they are a great team, and it is a glamour draw, but we can beat them and I wouldn't bet against us winning.

Btw, does anyone have a feeling that if we win we might be playing Shakhtar instead of Barca in the semi?

I didn't think it was as bad as that for some reason. Although I do think Real Madrid play a style more ideal to us than Inter or Chelsea did under Jose.

As you said earlier that record is influenced by us being a weaker side in some of those results. I wouldn't read too much into the record personally.

I am delighted with the draw, the semi final draw could of worked out better but this is football and anything can literally happen.

I think we will push Madrid very close indeed, and expect the King to roll out for that one. King and Gallas at the back could see us keep the tie alive for the return leg.

They arn't great at the back, we can get at them for sure. Yes they have some serious fire power but a strong defensive display away from home is achievable if at full strength.

Yes. I always think that when we are talking about teams who are technically comparative, even if one is clearly better than the other, then anything can happen. It is somewhat disrespectful, in situations like this, to talk as though the result has already happened. I felt it for the ArseScum/Birmingham game, for instance...B'rum are a top flight team, and, as we saw with Blackpool, there is no straight form line to make these things certain.

So, yeah, Barca are a fantastic team, but Shaktar are a CL side, with a growing pedigree, (much like ourselves), so it is not a forgone conclusion that Barca will be in the next round.

A good read this, the implication regarding our wage structure and why Mourinho wouldn't want to come, according to a Harry joke, is ineteresting too...
