Seems about right except according to Niall Quinn we got alot for Bent due to a sell on clause and there is a 40% sell on clause for taarabt and wasn't palacios 8mill

some places say palacios was £6m, others £8m. bent was sold for 10m with an extra 6.5m triggered when sunderland then sold him for more than 16.5m, as confirmed by the os(can't link now because of the updated site) and niall quinn himself on setanta ireland i think it was.

This window tells us that there's a recession on and January isn't a good time for normal folk to spend big whatever the chairman of Marseilles says.

Who the fuck is Nouah Dicko?

And I'd forgotten all about Jimmy Walker and Dorian Dervite.

What does the transfer window tell us?

That most people can't control logical thought and reasoning, along with a large amount of information that they can then apply their uncontrollable logical thought and reasoning to...

It tells us the importance of having good character in the dressing room. If we have players who don't want to be here then it's better to let them go than have their negativity around the dressing room.

It also tells us that we have no extra European games this season and can afford to trim the squad.

Nobody has to agree with me. And of the players I have named some will still be good players in 2 years time. Although of those only two will be 30 in two years. The rest will be 33+. And I most certainly did not call any players worthless or even imply it. I just stated that by 30, players are nearing the end. I don't think straw men arguments are very clever. So I disagree with your point that all of our players will still be world class at age 40.

Very few can keep a high standard beyond this age, as Chelsea is finding out the hard way. Those that do, such as the outliers you mentioned, do so by adjusting by becoming smarter players. And sometime they show their intelligence by going to less demanding leagues such as here or Australia or the gulf states.

Evolution is a bitch but it its real and we haven't overridden 100,000 years of 30 being the final stages of life in a mere 400 years. Ask your testosterone levels. Also by 30 most of these players have spent half of their life destroying their body. It can only cope for so long. By 30 almost all elite athletes are done. Elite tennis players are done and that is infinitely less grinding on the body than football (although it does take its tole on shoulders, knees and back). How many 30+ siwmmers will you see at this summer's olympics? And swimming is the best exercise for your body. Even the blip that led to players surviving well into their 30's in baseball (or rounders for you nationalists ) ended when you couldn't shoot human growth hormone into your veins. And baseball has been shown to have 12 minutes of action per game. 12 minutes, 6X a week for 6 months a year and few make it into their 30's. As compared to running a few miles, while getting kicked for twice a week for 9 months.

So disagree with me. That's fine. But biology dictates this argument, not our wishes.

Can't we sign more ageing players to replace them? Old players are becoming cheap.

While we are fine now, there is going to be a day of reckoning for the odd way we have handled transfers under Harry.

Saha, Nelson, Ledley, Gallas, Parker, Cuducini and Friedel are all over 30.

By the summer of 2013, van der Vaart, Jenas, Defoe and Pienaar turn 30.

That is 11 players hitting the tail end of their career at roughly the same time. And then there are Modric and Bale, who are going to move to one of the big clubs eventually, despite our refusal to accept reality. And Ade, who we don't own and its doubtful we ever will.

We don't have the resources to replace these 14 players with top 6 players in one fail swoop. And since we haven't made much of an effort to get a player here or there, we will be stuck with with using replacements from our academy. While we all have hope for it, the chances of us creating 14 top six players is nil. So we are going to need at least 9 players to replace these players and that's not including Bentley and Dawson, who will turn 30 soon after. And I'm being kind saying we can even produce 5 top six players within the next two years.

Since we can't offer wages or transfer fees with the big boys, we will be stuck in a position where we won't have the players to continue fighting for CL spots, let alone a title.

So it is fine to be happy with our team for now. But when it comes, the fall is going to suck and I doubt many here are ready for it.

Obviously the management isn't because they have bought very little for the future and seem to think a 100% hit rate from an academy that hasn't produced historically is a dead cert.

Gallas' contract expires this summer. Can you see it being renewed?

Saha and Nelsen are clearly short-term cover.

Much as we may hope otherwise, Ledders is not going to continue defying medical science for a great deal longer.

Friedel's got one more year on his contract.

We have back-up for Parker already.

Do you honestly think Defoe, Jenas and Pienaar will be Spurs players next season?

Where on earth do you get the idea that we would try to replace all of them let alone all at once?

Where's Kanu? Surely he must have a new passport listing his age at 25?

Are you seriously worried about players turning 30?

We have also signed up a lot of youngsters, which people tend to forget. Walker, Coulibally, Cebellos, Klasinic, Naughton (sorry for the spelling) to name a few.

It's fine we will sign Neuer, Silva, Gotze, Hazard, Eto'o and Soldado in the summer.

Next season can look after itself, if we can win the league (this season) I don't think anyone could say that Harry's transfers didn't work out.
