We might well be 12th on that list, but we don't pay the ridiculous wages some of the elite Clubs do.

Maybe from your perspective yes, but again from Burnely's we are definitely one of the elite clubs.

We have the 12th highest wage bill across world football with an average wage of 2.68M. Almost 3X Burnely's of 954K.

Barcelona were at 5.65M.

So the gap between Spurs and Barca is less than the gap between Burnely and Spurs.

Gap between Burnley and Spurs - 2.8X
Gap between Spurs and Barca - 2.1X

What's wrong? (n)
That's a weird way of defining a gap.

According to you figures, we pay 1.6m more than Burnley, & Barca pay 3m more than us, but qudos for coming up for a method that puts us closer to Barca.

This is a basic proportional comparison. What's the issue?

I actually think it's the way that makes the most sense.

It is, but I wouldn't call it the "gap between" in this sense.

But I'm not a statistician, I work with actual numbers.

Would hate to see this escalate into some number on number crime.

Over on RedCafe, some respect in the '2016/2017 title race' thread:

Spurs are an under rated team. One of the most impressive teams in Europe this season in terms of how they've risen above expectations. Pochettino is a fantastic manager. He quietly goes about his business and organizes his team very well. Their defence is actually better than Chelsea, and though they've scored less goals, they offer a more persistent goal threat with their direct play. Their full backs are also monsters.

Pochettino has quietly turned Spurs into a credible threat and they are definitely a club on the rise. If Chelsea draw or lose to City in the next game, the gap will be 4-5 points which would be shocking given how many already crowned them champions long ago. Even if Spurs end up losing the title, they will finish the season as the most in-form and most improved team IMO, they will compete for the title next season too.

Spurs could win out, Chelsea lose 2 more matches and Chelsea would still win the title.

In other words, it's over. Today changed nothing.

Considering Spurs had to deal with European football...7 point gap is pretty small. Spurs look like they have the better fixtures too, would be good if City beat Chelsea on Wednesday

In ArseMania's 'Matchday 30' thread:

The last thing our miserable season needed was a buoyant Sp*rs believing they could actually win the title.

Should it happen this season will evolve into a waking nightmare!!

Well Leicester kind of softened the potential blow by doing the unthinkable last season... So I wouldn't be as devastated as I would be had Spurs won it 4 years ago or so. You just expect everything that happens outside of Arsenal to humiliate us in some way these days.

I'd kind of like Chelsea to score tbh, I don't want Spurs to have a glimmer of hope for the title.

True. However, Spurs winning it would probably be the ultimate blow in a flurry of humiliations suffered by us & the one I doubt Arsene can weather.

From a neutral perspective it's understandable by some would want this Spurs side to win the league. They have nowhere near as much money as Chelsea, City, United or even us, they have lots of young English talent getting game time and they probably play slightly more attractive football than Chelsea do.
