Robbie from Arsenal fan tv giving it in Ball street earlier how Poch isn't a great manager and jurys out until he wins something. Chelsea fan turns round and says to Robbie "I'll tell you something, Spurs will win the league before you win it again" to which the Liverpool and QPR fans laugh and agree was a great moment

He's saying that robbie thinks we have no right to challenge for titles because we are spurs. Basically we should know our place.

From Rawk; re Sessegnon. It starts with about 6 pages of how they're going to sign him and then someone posts a bit of itk about our interest. Many then seem to feel that they shouldn't have leaked their targets to the press as it prompted us to go for him! As if we're going for him because we saw they were. A few of them think we let them scout players and nick them off them i.e Dele!

A warning. Some of the posts you are about to read contain graphic grammatical errors and may not be suitable for young people to read as it could have a negative affect on their education.

---------------------------------------------------
There have been some ITK stuff this past week saying his Spurs contract has been 'seen'. Another post today on Twitter from someone who has been accurate in the past also saying it. Time will tell I guess.

We all know what's going to happen, let's just get it over with and sign Bertrand now.

Well I'm not going to buy into the twatter BS but I've come to terms with it. If he signs for Spurs he signs for Spurs. Unlike Alli, it's highly unlikely that we'd lose out to them because of financial wrangling and probably quite a bit down to him wanting to stay in London.

Yea me neither. Why would he choose Spurs over us. He has Danny Rose to try and dislodge to become the main #1 LB. Thats some ask. Whereas with us he has an aging CM who he can/could naturally replace. Both clubs in Champions League. Surely we are the better option?

Some Spurs fans I've spoken to think Rose will be off this summer as he wants the sort of contract he won't get if he stays put. If we're telling Sessengnon to come her and play understudy to Milner and Spurs are offering him first team football under a manager who has handled the progression of Rose, Walker, Ali and Kane, I think we all know where he will end up. Tell him he's a number one guy at left back and we'll got a shot I reckon.

So after a very good season in the Championship this newly turned 17year old believes he's good enough to potentially replace Danny Rose and become a first team player immediately at Spurs? I mean that's if so confidence. He might for sure. But he might also need his time. Just saying that doesn't sound too plausible and well are Spurs likely to sell both Walker and Rose? That sounds even less plausible.

No idea if the Spurs link is genuine, but he's the exact type of player they'd go for. And I disagree that it would be a bad move for him - think he'd get plenty of games, not just at LB but also further up the pitch as an attacking option. They've got almost zero depth in attacking positions so you can imagine him coming off the bench in PL games for added pace.

So yeah, don't think coming to us ahead of Spurs is an obvious choice for the lad at all. (y)

I think Sessegnon being from London would give Spurs the advantage.

Well, that is one advantage for them, but having Danny Rose and Ben Davies signing new contracts recently is a huge disadvantage. Of course, they might sign him as a left winger, since their recent experiments with N'Koudou and N'Jie failed.

To be fair, to do as well as he has in the Championship at the age of 16-17, you've got to be pretty special. He plays in a position that we need a player for and is homegrown too, so ticks several boxes and I think it'd be fair to be a touch excited if we get him, or a touch disappointed if we don't.

think spurs need to free up transfer funds. they're building a new stadium so i'd guess numbers would be tight. they've also got trippier coming through so cashing in on walker is good timing.

keep rose for another year with sessegnon getting some minutes and sell rose, or sell rose and have Davies and sessegnon at LB

Joyce saying Spurs are favorites to sign him which is ... vexing (Liverpool ITK)

To say the least. It's only been a week since the season ended, but it doesn't feel like much has changed since last summer.

Fuck off Spurs, get your own transfer policy. Sick of youse wankers thinking you're a big club. Piss off back to mid table.

I'm outraged, that a 17 year old kid choses to play with a club only a few miles away from where he is from and finished higher than us with a manager who likes to give chances to young talents.

Also, we should really stop leaking transfer targets. Makes us look numpties when they chose to go somewhere else after our beloved Melissa Reddy tells us they are our primary targets.

Huh? He's not getting much chance at Spurs is he - unless Rose is dead or being sold

Rose is off to United. In fact, very timely reports, the both of them today.

Both quite fuck over us at least until we won't sign a LB

Yikes... not great for us. Oh well it's only fullbacks. Disappointing to lose out to Spurs though ... I mean they're still Spurs

Wouldn't surprise me. If you're an elite young English talent no club should excite you more than Spurs right now with how they've developed Kane and Alli.

It's annoying because he's clearly very talented and Spurs are our closest competitor in the market. It's just becoming a bit of a habit - leaking your targets to certain journalists and then looking a bit daft when you miss out.

Wait, so you mean whilst we were sat on our arse busy telling everyone far and wide that he was one of our primary targets another club came in and actually coughed up and got the deal done? Colour me surprised.

I'm sure (well, I'm not actually..) that the club don't purposefully leak our primary targets, but surely they must be aware of how amateur it makes us look that we continually fail to land the players we want whenever another club is seriously interested

There is no done deal for Sessegnon by any party. Joyce simply says Spurs have entered the race and might be considered favourites (that old transfer story cliche), without really giving solid reasons why.

Actually, for Sessegnon, it makes perfect sense. Stay close to your home while you're still a kid, play for a club which finished 2nd and play exciting football. I would say it should be an ideal scenario for him. A sensible one. I just despair at the wonderful stories we are briefed with from our reliable journos. The phrase 'primary transfer target' should be obliterated from LFC related journalism. If I was a rival fan, would find it all hilarious. For us, its embarassing.

This would be a fantastic start to our "summer of getting first choice targets in." It wouldn't be the end of the world if we missed out on Sessegnon but it would be a touch "vexing," as someone put it above. Fuck off Spurs.

But we were confident. So, so confident. Obviously nothing confirmed yet but will be a bit galling if he is right. Just seems that the same thing happens summer after summer.

And it'll continue to be so until the club stop yapping to journalists about targets. Saying we are confident and then failing comes across so poorly, I'd find it hilarious if it was another team doing it, cos it's embarrassing.

Fucking hell it's bad enough to be competing with the 3 stupendously rich clubs in Chelsea City and Man utd but now Tottenham who are not even on our level financially or anywhere close are a significant threat to our transfer plans depressing stuff

The players we're lost over the recent years to Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Tottenham... I cringe I tells ya...

Sessegnon still hasn't signed a professional contract .By the looks of it he won't sign one either. So Spurs can pick him up for cheap and decide the price at a tribunal. And the kid will get nice signing on bonus as well. And unless i am mistakes ,until he signs the contract with Fulham , we can't sign him because of our ban on academy players. So we can do nothing in this regard.

Also, Spurs can swoop in and just sign him, where as we have to wait for Sessegnon to sign a pro contract with Fulham (because of our ban) before making a move. A this point I think Sessesgnon signing for Spurs is very likely and we'll be powerless to do anything about it.

Shame if he goes to Spurs, would play far more here.... Still, he's 16, probably just wants to stay at home..

Sessegon is a boyhood Liverpool fan, right? Who says lightning doesn't strike twice.

Spurs have a good transfer model. Move on your established stars for huge fees and replace them with cheaper, younger and hungrier players.

I can't say that I would be that bothered about Sessegnon moving to Spurs. Not because I don't rate the player but because I always felt if a London club got involved we'd have no chance. His family and friends are in London, and this is a big deal when you're in your teens. The hope was being a Liverpool fan would have got the deal over the line but I guess boyhood loyalties count for fuck all these days.

If the lad has chosen Spurs that's fair enough. If i wasn't a Liverpool fan i;d probably choose them to. Ultimately they don't pay enough but that won't matter until his next contract or the one after that.

Why would you choose Spurs over us?

In London
Recent history of league finishes
Consistent participation in Champions League
Pochetino (not saying better than Klopp but an excellent, progressive, young manager)
Style of football (again, not saying better than LFC but better than many competitors)

Landan. I guess because they came second ? and their league position over the last few years v ours???

How many of them are choosing Spurs over Utd? Not many I would suspect. Plus we are a bigger club, with more money (lots more money) and a world class manager proven more than Spurs' manager. Its not like they have won much either and will probably lose players to bigger clubs.

maybe his settled in London and wants to stay there

At 17, living and coming from London I'd want to stay there given the chance myself so it wont be a surprise if he ends up at Spurs.

He is a Liverpool fan.

everyone is, apparently

Offer him enough money and he would move to Liverpool.

No longer interested in him according to Joyce. Going well then.

If I was a young defender I don't think I'd be desperate to join Liverpool. We've not developed defensive talent well at all for a long time. Entirely different story for attacking players and midfielders of course but as a defender Tottenham probably would be a better option at this point

Really trying to be arsed about this but I just can't manage it...

Wait for five years when he's the next Bale, then be arsed.

Apparently we are dropping our interest to fully commit to monitoring Mendy until he goes to another club. :D

Very disappointing. His record is phenomenal for a player of that age in that position. What is more depressing is that you can't blame him. Spurs are doing really well and are ahead of us at the moment whether we like it or not.

Not bothered in the short term as I'd prefer a player who can immediately come in and challenge Milner (felt Sessegnon would have needed at least a season) - but in the long term, feel this one will sting in a similar way to Deli Alli.

Put your knickers back in the freezer box (this is directed at anyone losing their shit over Sessignon/Spurs). Did you know Saido Mane had a look round at Spurs. Chose us. Feeling better now?

look at how well Pochetino has developed Spurs current fullbacks. Why wouldn't you seriously consider them if you were a young player with massive potential.

US and Spurs are on a similar level, you could argue they are ahead of us at the moment. Players aren't interested in how big our fan Base world wide is or our history.

So if we are so far behind these sides then why are we even pissed off if we come 6th or something? Thats our level isn't it?

Unfortunately, yes. That's how we're perceived, Klopp said it himself. We need to change that perception. One season isn't enough. We finished 2nd then ended up back in 6th and 8th. Until we consistently challenge and play in CL we won't be perceived as a big team. (y)

Why is it that bigger clubs can out bid us but we cannot out bid smaller sides? (We're now the small side compared to Liverpool)

Who says we haven't outbid Spurs for this player? Surely you know that there are likely different reasons for a 17 year old with massive potential and a top level player to choose which club to go to next?
