Rodgers is underrated IMO. He got a whole lot closer with Liverpool than anyone else since the Benitez era. I know they had Suarez, but one stand-out player doesn't guarantee anything - we finished 5th with Bale and the same could have easily happened to them. Obviously did very well at Swansea too and as someone who watches Celtic semi-regularly I've been hugely impressed - they've gone from a team coasting who couldn't give a crap to one that actually fights, doesn't ever want to lose and actually look somewhat capable in Europe.

My main problem with Rodgers was how he used to talk as though he had presided over an incredibly successful dynasty, like Ferguson or Wenger, after one above average season.

He was constantly trying to present himself as "Mr Liverpool", always sucking up to the fans with his talk about what "kind of club" they are, and with his patronising digs at Spurs - "at Liverpool there's a strategy behind what we're doing".

In short, I think he got ahead of himself and became convinced that he was on the verge of being a club legend and one of the undisputed big hitters in English football. And for that reason I enjoyed his downfall more than I would have otherwise.

Yeah, agree with you there, he's bloody annoying. But Mourinho serves as a prime example of how complete, utter twats can unfortunately make rather good football managers.

I think folks by the name of Ronaldo and Messi would disagree with you on that one a wee bit.

yet when it was all said and done, he ended up walking alone.

HAHAHAHA @paul_tomkins actually wrote a book about coming 2nd?! Bloody hell what losers! #Liverpool #YNWApic.twitter.com/heZLtIOrZZ

Edit: For those of you interested in buying, here are a couple of reviews from Amazon...

"This is stuff that would embarrass normal fans but not Liverpool. They love these things out of being so pathetic and average. A book celebrating 2nd blowing the title in comedic fashion with their little over rated icon slipping is actually very scouse like. Clowns who buy this deserve to be ripped off."

"I tried to buy this in Waterstones but it was raining outside and I slipped. Whilst I was recovering Demba Ba nipped in and got the last copy. I hear it's a good read though and the ending is great."

:ROFLMAO:

The comment section though. Pretty crazy how serious someone are !

'This season'

How selective.

Ronaldo?

Missed your reply on him, no doubt to be posted on your next nugget of wisdom.
To be fair, Ronaldo alone didn't win real the league. They have an absolutely incredible team of superstars and cheats (ramos :cautious:)

Agreed, his 38 goals in 44 games this season, is a fucking horrendous return. I'd transfer the fucker right out of Spanish footie if i were Zidane.

Jog on with your strawman argument. I didnt say any of that. I said he alone didn't win the league. You don't think any other real Madrid player contributed? Every other real Madrid player sat on the floor while Ronaldo did everything 1v11? The 77 goals the rest of the team scored don't count? Of course he's a decent player.
