Red Cafe:

I was surprised they weren't in for Mane, I think he'd have been perfect for them.

Sigh, don't we all know it. One can only dream where we would be if we were sensible in the summer of 2014 and had signed him instead of chasing a winger with a knackered knee. He really is precisely what we're still lacking atm.

He was out of our league price wise this summer otherwise he would have been a good fit.

From The Shed End:

It was like when we played, United it was perfect timing due to their fixture schedule and this has come at a perfect time for us too. Spurs have an important CL fixture against Monaco in the week and already have their injury/suspension problems. Both their first choice and second choice LB are unavailable. Danny Rose is suspended. Ben Davies is injured which means they will have to put a make shift RB like Trippier in place most likely. Alderweireld is almost certainly ruled out judging by Poch's words. Lamela injured. Kane has scored in his last two PL appearances but imo still looks very rusty and whether 2 games in succession will take its toll on him remains to be seen. Hopefully so.

Anyway in contrast we have our whole squad available, have a full week's rest and are at home where Spurs don't beat us. Hopefully we add more misery to their visit here. COYB!

I know we say this every week now but this really is a big test. They'll be very dirty and aggressive and we need to match it without losing our heads. Really looking forward to this. Come on Chelsea.

Hopefully we can smash them. I'm still angry over they're disgraceful behavior last season

6-0 for me

I'm fairly confident of a win because 1) we'll be playing at home, 2) we don't have a midweek fixture and 3) they looked less than convincing against West Ham.

Still, this Tottenham side appears to be quite resilient and so we can't be complacent.

I don't think their fitness levels will suffer that much from the mid week game. in fact it might help them as their levels will already be higher from a competitive game. its not like they're travelling too far either, so they may well be fine when it comes to their fitness levels. whether they will be fitter than us is unknown. They will likely come to press us as hard as they can, so it will be interesting to see how we cope under the pressure they put on us. A lot of teams will have a plan to beat us, but whether it works or not is a different thing altogether.

I'm a bit apprehensive about how we will play out of defence in this one- spurs are probably the best pressing side in the country and whilst the way our players are spread out is designed to help us counter that, I do fear that we could be testing the absolute limits of people like cahill etc.

in our favour is that they have a potentially tough european game in mid week and we look extremely fit under conte. if we're in the game late on then I expect we should end it stronger from a physical stand point.

Dreading the weekend personally. They are exactly right in their assessment of both our suspension/injury problems and the fact they are at home and flying.

I'd happily take a draw right now

Are you sure this isn't a Spurs fan talking about Chelscum?

To be fair, after last season's match there's no way we can be on our high horse about dirty play anymore.

I both agree and disagree.

For years Chelsea have been outright bullying teams (ourselves included) with their scumbag antics, and it was fucking joyful to see us giving some back for a change. Whether that ultimately cost us the game (season?) will never be known, but I don't regret our players roughing them up for a second.

Don't get me wrong, I completely disapproved of Alli's punch on Yacob and Sissoko's elbow on After, but when you go in to the Chelsea game and remember incidents such as Cole on Hutton and Torres on Verts which both went unpunished during the matches, I'm glad we finally gave them what had been coming for years.

Soft Spurs we are no longer!

I'm with you...I was joyed that we went into that game tough with Chelski. People talk as if we lost the game it was a draw Hazard scored an unbelievable goal no keeper in world football could of saved it.

Yes we can. Chelsea, throughout their history have been a dirty scummy team, and have fans to match. We on the other hand have a history of not being full of fight and dirtiness, we have one game under intense pressure (and provocation) where we lose it. Never been repeated since or likely again... so yes, Chelsea are a dirty team. We are not.
Of course every team - even the weakest of teams - have occasions when a player does something stupid. But Chelsea have a long history that is consistently dirty and vindictive.

Ledley King

Different injuries/issues, and different positions. A winger's role requires incredible agility and endurance, and for them to come back from ACL tears is and will always be extremely difficult. Why we held out for him instead of moving for another/better option will continue to astound me. It's just so bloody obvious that this squad was and still is crying out for that kind of player that I view it borderline negligence that it's taken this long to adequately address it. Jay fucking Rodriguez, Jesus Christ.

Why are you still going on about him?

And surely we have tried to get the player you want- first Njie (which didn't work out well), now Nkoudou.

We could have saved £30m on Sissoko, sold Son for £17m, not bought GKN forget how much he cost, take out their wages and we could have easily bought Mane. We've bought Sissoko, GKN, Janssen and Wanyama and have actually gone backwards all for the princely sum of £50m+ and wages too
