The thing that shocked me most there is that his family TEXTED him to tell him his son had died. Surely that's worth a fucking phone call?

Have you ever once heard your phone ring in the middle of a match? I never have. I expect they rang several times and then sent a text.

Not that I want to lay any criticism at the door of a grieving family. But, I've seen similar comments to this a number of times now.

Personally, if it was me, I would not want to find out a loved one had died through text message. If I couldn't get hold of someone to tell them, then I would just keep ringing them until they answered the phone. And if there was still no reply, there'd have been a text sent telling them to call back as a matter of urgency.

As I said though, it's not a matter of criticism, I just found it odd.

Not really. Sometimes it's easier because telling someone you love that you have lost someone you love can be heartrending, the text helps you to keep your shit together.

My Mother in Law died just before Christmas. My Wife was with her when it happened and sent me a text that she'd gone to join Dad.

My Wife adored her Mum, had she rung me she'd have been in bits, the text was how she was able to let me know without losing it.

Sorry to hear that mate. Hope she's doing ok.

I agree but the point of my posting the story was about human beings treating each other well at times like this - it just happened to be Liverpool in this case.
You make it sound as is if human beings treating each other well is a rare occurance. The issue in question goes well beyond partisan football. Any other response that was less than what was given would be a disgrace

Spurs tearing WBA apart in the early game 2-0 up , had one disallowed (correctly) and a couple of good saves. Such a shame they look so good.

Got to agree they look very good..
Not very far off the title I would suggest

Tottenham looking quality.

Unfortunately I just can't see things go tits up for them with Kane and Ali in their team and a new 60,000 seater football stadium around the corner.

From the RAWK premier league thread in response to another poster saying we look good.

"They'll spurs it eventually, always do."

Even if we do "spurs" it what does that mean for Liverpool who will finish below us again?

Oh yeah that's right, they are shit.

Slightly off topic but don't feel it's worth it's own thread.

Which opposition fans in the league do you hate the most?

Obviously it should be Arse due to the rivalry but for me it's got to be West Ham. Everything I despise - but mostly their inferiority complex I hate the most. The absolute meltdown they're going through this season gives me nothing but joy.

No, that's definitely worth its own thread, fascinating and original topic...
