There are actually a couple of very good comments, praising how our club is run, from top to bottom.

"I honestly don;t know why some of us here are so obsessed with how they are doing. They act and think like a top 6 team. We are at the other end of the spectrum. We are now allegedly looking at John Terry, Jermaine Defoe, Sagna and Zabaletta from City. I don't want any of that to be true but thats the mentality of our board. Its a wonder our fans don't adopt Barbara Striesands "Second Hand Rose" as our theme song. It would certainly ring a bell with our board."

"Provocative Post.
The gap between Spurs and West Ham in my opinion has nothing to do with Finances. It has to do with the fact they are well managed and we are comparatively poorly managed, both as a business and as a a football team.
Many on here deride our owners for the lack of spending in the transfer market.
Over the last 5 year we have a net spend of 154m euros, ranking us 6th, just above Sunderland. Spurs on the other hand have spent £20m Euros, ranking them 19th in the Premier League.
Clearly that's not the reason why they are doing better than us.
The problem is that they have spent well and we have, generally wasted our money.
They have a policy of buying young players, where there is potential to sell on at a profit - pretty much the exact opposite of the way our transfer policy is developing.
http://www.transferleague.co.uk/pre...tables/premier-league-table-last-five-seasons
Spurs don't seem to waste money on loan signings. Do they have any players on loan? Can anyone thing of a successful loan signing at West Ham? Not only is this a poor use of resources, but it stops young players from developing.
Add to that they are actually bringing players through their youth team, such and Kane and Winks, and producing players they can sell to other premiership clubs.
Spurs are renowned for being a fit team. We on the other hand seemed to be one of the less fit teams in the league.
We on the other hand aren't even porducing players that can cut it in the Championship and League 1. Something has gone very seriously wrong with our youth set up.
Their manager is head and shoulders above ours. The team is fitter, he will trust young players to do a job and nurtures them. On balance he gets more out of the players he signs and increases their value. Ours generally become worse players when they join West Ham and lose value.
Spurs have one of the strongest defences in the League: we have one of the weakest. Responsibility for our poor defence lies fairly and squarely on the managers shoulders: he picks the team, all the coaches are his appointments, he is responsible for organising the team. He has signed a number of the defenders.
I am not sure why a West Ham fan site should focus exclusively on Spurs, as opposed to the many other teams in the league who are doing better than us.
What interests me is how West Ham fulfill its potential:
to me that means better use of the transfer market, Its not the price you player for a player that but the value of the player you sign. We want to get the best possible value for the least possible outlay. £20 for Simone Zaza would not have been money well spent. £65000 a week for Alvaro Arbeloa is not good value for money. I do not criticise the owners for the amount they have spent, but for the amount they have wasted. The solution is not to spend more, but to spend better.
Focusing on just one club, Spurs, who don't even regard us as a rival, is a mistake. It shoes a small mind mentality.
West Ham is a club with great potential and a terrific fan base. We have a great heritage. We can have a great future. We need to buy well, develop our own players and to sign and develop promising players.
They may have 63200 people on their season ticket waiting list, to our 55000. But we do have 52000 season ticket holders. So that comparison isn't really comparing like with like."
Are they a bigger club than us. I would say historically they pretty much always have been. They currently are.

Someone put this guy and Karren Brady in a room. NOW!

Well done, Twix marketing campaign, but it wasn't enough... I'm still choosing Kit-Kat over Twix any day.
Kit-kats still sold somewhere, haven't seen them at least in ten years!!?? Well, fuck my life.

I really don't mean to derail this thread anymore but I definitely thought kit-kat had a hyphen too.
Turns out it never did.
Google it if you don't believe me.

I was absolutely 100 fucking % it had a hyphen.
Till I google it.

Spent yesterday evening with 2 Gooners, a Liverpool fan and an Ipswich fan.

The Gooners didn't want to talk about football, but the Ipswich fan was full of praise for Spurs. Said we're the best team to watch and our back 5 is the best in the league in every position (I presume he was omitting Dier and referring to Hugo, KW, TA, JV and Rose).

The Liverpool fan took issue with the comment that we're the best team to watch but the Gooners magnanimously pointed out that as the only neutral at the table, if the Ipswich fan thinks Spurs are the best team to watch then that carries a great deal more weight than the rest of our opinions.

As usual the Liverpool fan was loathe to offer anyone else any praise, resorting to only backhanded compliments which somehow made it sound inevitable that Liverpool will win the league next year and Spurs will drop off. He put all of Chelsea's success this season down to luck with injuries and said they'll be crap in Europe next season (he's unbelievably bitter, even by a Liverpool fan's standards).

Perhaps most notably, when I was brave enough (drunk enough) to float the idea of us winning the double this season I wasn't laughed at - and these fellas like to pick apart everything I ever say about anything!

To be fair to your Mickey friend, we have scored as much as them, including plenty of exciting goals, though them and their media acolytes do like to perpetuate the myth that Klopp has created an irresistible attacking force that no other club can remotely approach in excitement. But it is in defence that they beat us hands down in regard to being good to watch. And by that I mean some neutral footballing purists might enjoy our defence limiting the number of chances and goals we concede with consummate skill, organisation, team-work and superb coaching - but, TBF, it is fooking hilarious watching the hopelessly inept Mickey defence throwing away victories and draws through sheer incompetence and mismanagement. So in that way they are far more entertaining to watch :)

From The Shed End semi-final thread:

It's at Wembley so I'm more confident. Revenge will be sweet.

anyone going to be running round Wembley with their willys hanging out. I probably will after 2pints

Hope Kane misses this.
Spuds are our Bogey team this season so will need to approach this one a bit different IMO. As someone said need to maybe add some more height to the back 3 as they exposed us badly last time out.

While the immediate prize is a place in the final I doubt anyone does not see this being about more than that. A win here could have a real knock to Spurs confidence and push us on to winning the league.
Meanwhile a loss on the other hand....

f**k our lead:
THIS IS WAR.
f**k Tottenham and everything that they stand for. We're playing for who has the biggest cock. This is a legitimate battle for supremacy.
Also... f**k Tottenham.

I fear we are getting nothing but a right hammering.

We're going to get twatted.

I'm sure our confidence will be waning and really doubt if we're up to facing a brilliant Spurs side. They are in devastating form at the moment and it will add to our woes which is the last thing we need right now.

this is prob the first time in 20 odd years that spurs are a match if not a little better than us right now,we really need to be on top of our game or we will be in trouble.

I will say this though, people need to stop sh*tting themselves over this Spurs team. Yes they've looked good recently but they won two very winnable home games. People are getting carried away acting like they're a 2007-2011 Barcelona or something.

Worryingly it seems a bit low key on here about Saturday, its a Saturday 5:15 ko at Wembley v our most despised enemy, surely we can give a good showing in and around the old stadium, in my opinion we are under dogs on current form, so that means we as fans have to raise our game, we are Chelsea for f**k sake, our little north London friends with there inferior complex will try their best, but let's not give the tossers any encouragement. After the Carling cup 2 years ago the y*ds were impressed with all our flags round the stadium, so let's make sure there isin't a spare space for a flag to be draped at our end, I know Wembley is not the best for atmo, but no excuses let's give it large Saturday, we might not win Saturday, but let's make sure spurs and the millions watching on TV, know what our Chelsea is all about, sing up Saturday, carefree

Spurs crumble when they have to play an above average side away from home, comfortable 2-0 win.

I think we will lose this semi... It will work in our favour to win the prem.. Spuds will be too excited about playing in the final esp if its against le arse. I believe they will worry in their prem matches of injury probs psychologically working against them in some difficult last games

I'm hoping for an incredibly defensive game by us with Spurs having 70% possession then us knicking a goal in the 97th minute after only 4 minutes were added on, followed by an absolute Spurs meltdown. Diego to run over to the Spurs fans and celebrate in front of them all. Dele Alli crying in the centre circle, Vorm trying to fight people on the bench. One can dream.

Give John Terry a start, they don't have any fast strikers so he will be able to handle them.
I'd be worried if Terry was playing against Rashford, Abuemyang, etc but not Harry Kane or Jansson.

remember too...once we get the RENT BOY jibes... Stick the spurs cock up their @aaa

Let's not be afraid, sure Spurs are a good side but they're f**king Spurs. We've beaten them already this season and despite what they or the media think they are not invincible. f**k Spurs, let's kick there arse!!!!!

Already I don't like the early comments from us surrounding the game. Quite often this season against the big guns we have shown too much respect as if we are inferior and every time I hear Conte speak he seems to lavish praise onto spurs. Surely this translates to the players. Even Luiz is at it.
I haven't heard a word from the Spurs camp praising or complimenting us and no doubt they will come out full of intensity and without fear. I can see us struggling to keep the ball and playing on the back foot and I think it'll partly stem from the build up.

although I'm as negative about this match as anyone I've read on here, I can see why we may well lose...if the team read any of our stuff they'll be as negative... Where's our faith gone... Spuds are having a laugh at us already.. They are very optimistic of their team doing ours and their fans doing a better job too... I don't see or hear anywhere spuds calling spuds BUFFOONS for any reason...Thats why we are mocked...you yoou yooouuu buffoons

It's f'ing Spurs for gods' sake.
calm down...

As far as atmosphere goes, generally the fans of the team thats winning make the most noise! I find our support contains far too many who dont/cant sing the songs especially in games like this. Also familiarity breeds contempt for the occassion and we have had so many visits to wembley alot of our support is blase about it. As is always the case the y*ds will be desperate for some silverware and there will be far more of them in the club wembley seats. So we need to be leading to compete with them singing wise. Spurs have recently rolled over some sh*te sides, lets not get carried away with them being world beaters. Anywhere near our A game and we will be fine. Remember this mob have a massive inferiority complex against us away from their hovel in the poor part of town.

Old friend of mine contacted me on LinkedIn asking about a job. He's West Ham. Signs off with
"PS no I dont want to talk about Football."

Of course I asked why not, you have a great Board, An award winning stadium, the most successful stadium migration ever,World Class Manager and an England Centre Forward.

His reply. "I hate the stadium Col. Went to the first 3 games there and that was enough. To be fair you are doing well, would be funny if Chelsea threw it away too"

Why would Kane miss this?!

His wife tweeted about Wall Papering the living room. The Baroness retweeted that Harry as the "man" of the house should do it and should do it this Saturday. And that West Ham are close to signing Ronaldo for £20m.

But you may have missed that.
