From Arsenal Mania (I went on Goonersworld too, but not much there. Just a load of moaning about Mike Dean being the ref)

Not optimistic about this at all, I think Pochettino will have a plan combined with Spurs' attack really hitting top form they could absolutely destroy our defence.
We're now in a position where there's no debate, Spurs currently have the better team with the better players. I honestly never thought I'd see this, I honestly never thought we'd be heading into a home NLD knowing that we're about to face a better side.

This will be a very even game IMO, but we can definitely win. Tottenham's biggest advantage over us in the last couple of seasons has been their high energy, hard running style that uses physicality and aggression. They do it very well.

This season, Arsenal are more equipped to match them in this regard, which will render that advantage null and void. It will be a highly intriguing battle and I'm really looking forward to it. I honestly hope we smash them tbh, they're getting a little too full of themselves

.

They've been full of themselves for a few years now and they've accomplished nothing. They don't realise they're in for a shocking next decade or so with the stadium. Sunday is going to be the start of their drop into the abyss of the bottommost bowels of hell.

It's a big game so Lloris is bound to make a mistake, he has also had a few good games recently, very unlike him to string a few games together without making a mistake.

As the in-house pessimist, I think we'll struggle here. Spurs were excellent against Chelsea.

Emery will need to work his magic here.

Feel like we're going to win this one. Need to press them high and get running in behind their centre backs early. The wee man in midfield will be key for us winning this game. Need Iwobi to believe in himself because he has all the tools to make the difference in this kind of game and for Auba to take his chances with class.

COYG.

Hope Aubameyang finally delivers in a proper big game.

Can't criticise him atm for his contribution to important goals this season, Bournemouth and Palace I think? Maybe another? But he's got to end this draught vs the top 6 and the NLD would be the perfect start. Needs to take his chance when he gets it.

Got a horrible feeling we're going to get smashed here. One of those games where everything will go wrong.

Spurs are a better side than us and when Emery loses to Pochettino he tends to lose big.

It’s a good point about Lloris. I wonder if this is why we’ve also been getting him to kick it long in the last week.

I never understand it when fans say this. It won't affect us one bit IMO. Under Levy, long before the stadium was even a thing, we operate the same way, sell to buy etc. It'll be business as usual. Except we can now pay better wages which will help.

Oh, not forgetting the conveyor belt from our academy. We have the best manager possible to get the best from these players.

This is the kinda thing I was referring to earlier...its what he dreams will happen.
To anyone who's been paying attention over the last few years, it's just delusional.

It never effected them. The increase in revenue from the new ground was around £60m and their payments were around £20m a year. They built up a cashflow (money in the bank) that was as much as all the other pl teams combined.

Whether wenger didn't want to spend or the owners wanted to keep it to make a sale more profitable i have no idea.

They will keep saying it and saying it and saying it.........then one day eventually we'll sell Kane and they'll all be "I told you so" and think it adds credence to whatever other stupid ideas they have at that point!

I get this shit all day at work from the Arsenal fans, it’s totaly mind blowing sometimes how they think we will have their issues.

It's just simply them trying to make themselves feel better about us having an awesome shiny new stadium that's all.

They seem to ignored our 5 years+ of negative net spend. We have been prepping for this for a while

They finished above us 3 seasons ago only because we fell apart after the title challenge ended. But we'd gone past them on all other measures by then and everyone knew it.

Next season we lost the title challenge but went on to see out the year with emphatic victories over both Arsenal and United.

Season after that Arsenal were lucky to scrape Europa.

Having said all that if they win they go above us don't they? Good new manager doing good things. Mates with Poch as well..

There's the key part in your post. There was a reason that we celebrated like absolute fucking mental at the end of the 2016/17 season.

It meant more to them and to some of our fans than it did to the reality of both clubs trajectory. They've beaten us once in 8 games. That's where the true change has happened.

But Emery will change things. How far? Remains to be seen.

Meant more to me than anything that's happened to us since 2000, with the exception of winning a pot in 2008.

Yeah... that's kind of apparent in your posts. Not saying you shouldn't feel that way but the fact you couldn't let it go after what we did the very next season (I was at the Lane to see us brush them aside in 16/17) is a bit worrying.

We've moved on as a Club. Time for supporters to move on too. Worrying about Arsenal is a fetish - worrying about beating Barcelona at the Nou Camp is where we belong (y)

Let what go? I genuinely don't understand what you mean there. I'm not trying to make any point other than saying that Arsenal were better than us in the League in 15/16, and that it wasn't until 16/17 that we could finally enjoy being indisputably better than them during a League season.

Sorry, but I think that’s slightly delusional. Our games against Arsenal, and wether or not we finish above them, will always be important, they are our biggest rivals. It’s naive to think that now we’ve finished above them for a few seasons that we have left them behind and we are on to bigger and better things. We have the better team right now, but they aren’t miles behind us.

It’s that attitude from a lot of their fans that tells me they’ve only supported them since Wenger times. I doubt 50% of their fan base was about in the george Graham era for example.
