I haven’t played much football since I was a kid but I remember once getting cleaned out by a goalkeeper in a school match and it kicking me high in the air and doing a 180 degree turn before landing on my arse. All my mates thought I’d dived because it looked so ridiculous, but me and keeper knew he had gone straight through my trailing leg.

So it might look theatrical but it’s a stonewall foul and Kane himself might not be doing much to make it look so ‘divy’ - I’d imagine Kane is moving a lot faster than I ever did and I’ve still been sent spiralling through the air in those circumstances!

P.S. I got the penalty!

Thing is, I don’t think Kane had any intention of getting that ball once he knocked it past Kepa. He was thinking get the touch, knock it past him, and there will 100% be contact as soon as I feel the contact I’m going down. That’s what I think his thinking was in that split second. Could be wrong though as I’m not professor Xavier.

In situations like this strikers know it's coming can do nothing about it but prepare themselves for the hit.
I have to say first report this morning I got a bit pissed off but since then I'm very much in the lovin' it camp. You think it's offside? awh didums, Kane dived? oh dear you poor things, it all so unfair? Ahh bless, suck it up losers.:)

They should be counting themselves lucky that Kepa didn’t get a red. I know Kane’s touch past the keeper was heavy and was going away from goal but all Kane had to do was get to be ball and square it to whoever it was that was in the 6 yard box waiting for a tap in. For me it was still a goal scoring opportunity and he should’ve gone.

Just by stating that he would have to square it into the box, instead of taking the shot himself straight away confirms that it was not "a goal scoring opportunity" by definition in the laws.

Yeah I was wondering what the exact wording was. I initially thought it had to be a “clear” goal scoring opportunity but I must admit I didn’t know that if you have to pass it then that automatically means it’s not a goal scoring opportunity.

I’d disagree with the law in that case as I think if Kane gets round him we score regardless of whether he scores himself or whether he squares it to a teammate to tap in an open goal but what I think is irrelevant and if that’s the law then the ref made the right call I guess.

This is the kind of controversial BS we used to be on the receiving end of against teams like Chelsea
Nothing overly controversial in this though. Offside was marginal, very marginal. VAR during the match appeared to show onside from their angle. Multiple angles show different results. The actual penalty was a foul. There was contact. Doesn't matter how Kane goes over, it is a penalty every day of the week.

How does the VAR offside system work? Isn’t it all digitalised so therefore 100% accurate pretty much? Kinda like Hawkeye

They changed the rules years ago.

So there's seem to be people implying that was a dive by Kane and not a pen ?

Wow. I mean, I'm open to discussion regarding the alleged offside position, but that's just a blatant penalty all day long.

(Those videos always make me laugh though)

One of the many reasons I have Joe blocked on all platforms is this sort of awful "Lad" banter they try to come up with. Shit website run by shit people. Especially that "Bearded Genius" bloke on Twitter. Not even remotely funny. And he tries fucking hard.

Much preferred it when it had to be “daylight” between the forward and the defender to be offside. Anything marginal should be given in favour of the attacking team.

One thing for certain and that is you never ever take any notice whatsoever of any evidence produced by Chelsea football club, if the situation had been reversed would they have brought a computer to the press after the game to make the point that their goal shouldn't have stood? No of course they wouldn't the idea is bloody preposterous and it is in no way objective so they, nor anyone else, should they be allowed to bring something like that to the press at the end of a game anyway.

The Chelsea screen shot shows if you look carefully, that the ball was just starting its journey from Toby’s threw ball, and not the time of connection. That split second puts Kane’s shoulders offside

Probably wouldn't be having this conversation and 'banter' if he hadn't been clipped by Karius against Liverpool. You simply don't win a controversial decision against them without also having to suffer years of tedium afterwards.

And their red line wasn’t straight.

Just saying.

Anyone who say she dived is a fucking joke - Does Kane need to be clattered into him by a reckless keeper for it to be a penalty? What I want to know from those who say he dived - where did you want Kane to go exactly... both running at full pelt, he wasnt going to go around the keeper because he couldnt... neither player could stop

Basically theyre ****s

To be fair Chelsea shows how to play against us and Man United have more teeth up front.

Their forward three will harass us and we need to not allow ourselves to be hemmed in so close to our own goal as we were last night looking for a long outlet.
United don’t have Hazard or Chelsea’s midfield. I think it is good if last night made them think they have a chance, if they come out and play against us I’m pretty sure we will rip them to shreds. Don’t forget this is Sonny’s last game for a while so he is bound to want to sign off with a bang. My entire office is United so we need to smash them.
