I think the atmosphere at football matches in this country has anaesthetised over past couple of decades through promoting football as a 'family' game, the pricing out of a lot of working class fans and the general theatre-esque attitude of wealthier, middle class 'fans'. It's sad really, as football was a release, a way to blow off some steam at the end of the week.
I think you’re confusing atmosphere (fans supporting their team vocally) with the opportunity to scream and shout socially unacceptable messages and words at opponents (and worryingly their own team).

I’d suggest that if you get a stadium full of supporters who will still sing and cheer on their team regardless, then the atmosphere will be better. The stadia with supportive fans have the memorable atmosphere - Dortmund, Anfield on a Euro night, hell, even Selhurst Park!

Also, the gatekeeping on not wanting families is terrible. It sounds like you’re pining for the bad old days.

I think he’s referring to the likes of those sitting three seats away from me who come back 10 minutes after half time with their “smashed olive” pizzas

I can't stand Liverpool supporters mainly due to their cockiness ...but you have to acknowledge and take your hat off to them and the ethos of the club. What a result against Barcelona. I found myself being happy and pissed.

There is something very special about them at Anfield European night flood light what passion and guts.

Tottenham as a club can learn a lot from them...said it

We're not that far away. There's a huge amount of negativity yet overall people seem to think we'll get through tonight. Our comeback from almost going out of the CL was impressive and done over many games.

What separates Liverpool from other clubs is that they cross the line from optimism and support into utter madness. Who else would come out of the 3-0 defeat utterly convinced they'd win 4-0? Many clubs could do it, but few would believe it so totally, from Klopp, to the players to the fans.

Thing is, if you want to be like liverpool you'd need to accept all that comes with it: t-shirt campaigns for Suarez, the derranged fans, the conspiracy theories, ridiculous histrionic collapses, the publishing sprees, pushing people into fountains etc.

This kind of mania can seem heroic from a distance. But up close it is dirty and disgusting and inimical to human civilization.... said it.

You won’t see a proper atmosphere week in week out unless you go to Brazil or Argentina, its so hard for any club to do that in England purely because a quarter of the people who go to PL games aren’t fans

Went to a Flamengo game at the Maracana a couple of months ago. It was basically a friendly and the atmosphere was completely insane. Absolutely relentless chanting and drumming. They also serve you beer in the stands. So good.

None of what you suggest is what I was saying.

I have literally just closed my business down early just shut up shop gone no lights on shut down.

A customer had called today to come in and get me to look at a scuff on his car that he claims needs compounding out he is full of shit he just wants to come round to brag the fuck out of that shower of shit he supports like he always tries to.
I have told him I don't talk football with liverpool fans but he tries anyway so I told him I would see him in a bit and furked right off :sneaky:

Does that make me a bad person ?

spray YIDS on the ****s bonnet!

Naaa I'll just let him stand outside staring at the workshop wearing his five foooking times sandwich board.

Plus I don't paint cars I could machine polish it in or nano coat it in so its invisible but when the dirt sticks to the rest of his car that bit stays clean maybe.
That's actually quite a good idea :sneaky:
