We won't be an easy win for anyone especially at home. We still have a strong midfield and attack. If Udogie and Porro are fit they will do well against their wide attackers. It should be a close game.

Agree and as well as Villa are doing their position is mostly because of home form. So they not same on the road but it still gonna be a very difficult game. Villa will give up the possession so it will up to us to be clinical.

With the change in the thread title I thought this read as : what our opponents are saying about our U23/24's :cautious:

Was expecting a thread full of...

"Never seen em play"

This x100.

we’ve won precisely fuck all, yet us fans act like we are one of the big boy winner clubs.

no doubt about it, most other teams fans don’t like spurs.
And it’s been the same for years I know a few older generations feeling the same, I’m 45

We've always had a sense of entitlement, a air of being the flash 'Arrys of football, and this belief that other teams can play crap football, we'll do it the "right" way (I'm talking before Jose and Conte, obvs).

So in short, we're the snobs of football. No wonder people hate us.

Difficult to believe when you walk down Tottenham High Road, I grant you. But people up north seem to think all us softy southerners are posh and up our own arses.

On account of us being Spurs or being down south?

Villa Talk
  • Can't beat a good stuffing at this time of the year, as spurs will find out to their detriment
  • Spurs are now our natural rivals for a place in the table, excellent start to the season notwithstanding, they're the limping gazelle in the big six - winning this one would be a big step in terms of us replacing them, killing the big six and establishing the eight team Premier League leaders group.
  • They'll take a point and would like three - I'll take a point, but I want to take Spurs future
  • It's interesting in the Spurs comments and on their site - they definitely see it as a big side with injuries against a smaller side in excellent form
  • Same in the media - I listened to one of their podcasts and they described us as 'annoyingly buzzing around sides like Spurs' at the top of the table. I think they see us as the next Brighton/West Ham (an interesting sub-plot in the Premier League season, but not serious challengers to the elite). Long may we continue to be underestimated - I like it when we get to give a team a reality check!
  • I don't think I'd take a draw in any fixture this season
  • I think Spurs will be in the 6th-8th group by end of the season so we should be above them come May just like last season played out.
  • This game has the potential to be a bit bonkers. If we can not concede early , i'd fancy us to win. I'd like us to just keep things tight for 20 mins and look to hit on the counter. Don't think it will happen tho.
Yes - it is likely to have plenty of goals. Tough to call. I hope we have the edge especially with their injuries and a 2 week tactical masterclass from the boss. 4-2 Villa.
  • I think its as simple as, if Ollie and Diaby can't score against Spur's slow, yet high line, we probably won't deserve to win.
Ange has them set up a lot like Unai has us set up when we're out of possession and I know which CM pairing I'd back in this match and it's not Spurs's.
Unbelievably, I can't see us losing
  • As long as we do not concede in the first 5/10 minutes we win this
  • We play sensibly here and we win.
  • The danger is a stupendous performance from Vicario or Son. 11 v 11 we should win this.
If Ange is naive/disrespectful enough to stick to his word re style of play then Unai is likely to school him
  • I am confident going into this one (a dangerous game I know) because Spurs despite their injuries under Ange will play the same way. They aren’t going to low block us like Forest or Wolves when playing us at home, their fans won’t accept that and neither will Ange. Therefore, Dier and Davies will be exposed and they are weak against pace
  • 1-3 Villa. An infamous win we’ll remember fondly as we nudge past Spuds into the top 4.

I can’t even make an argument. It’s their strongest 11 against our weakest back line. How are we expected to get anything? The injuries to VDV and Maddison and suspension to Romero has completely crippled our season at the worse possible time.

1 season above us and the mentality of oppositIon fans is insane, its like they all forgot we were a consistent CL team and even reached the final.

And of course if they beat us due to our very slow defenders and high line they will start to think they are the superior team, it’s really infuriating!

No different to us when talking about the big 4
Not really, they’ve had one half decent season in the last 15 years. We've consistently challenged the top four over the last decade or so, there’s a big difference.

We've consistently been top 4 give or take for a number of seasons now, and this is our first season out of Europe in a very long time. They have one decent season with Emery, we have had several, including two title challenges and a UCL final. Since Poch first arrived we have been in countless semis and finals (mostly league cup mind you). They wish they had that level of consistency challenging at the top.

Eh....the big four we"ve been in for the majority of the last ten years.

Its very, very different.

Villa havent fnished there once lol

What an odd remark.
It’s the mindset of fans mate, we are the same, we have won absolutely nugget all in that time, so to claim we are a big four/big 6 or whatever when we are the only team never to win anything - is more than likely the reason why clubs such as villa (who have a massive history) consider why - pretty logical to me really 🤷🏻‍♂️

We claim we're in the big 6. because we more often than not finish in the top 6. Leicester won a premier league and an FA Cup, would you consider them big six? Nope. They just got relegated. Trophies aside we have competed with the others more than the rest of the league. We were even invited to join the Super League, so that in itself should have us up there.

The conversation wasnt about winning things lol.

It was about finishing positions, and we have finished in the top 4 regularly for the last decade and that isnt undermined because we havent won anything....

Despiste your attempts to do exaxtly that 😉
