I thought it was some sort of thank you for letting woolwich use White Hart Lane for matches during the war as their ground was a bomb shelter?
It was actually an ARP Centre. A hub for all Air Raid precautions such as Fire, Ambulance, Police, heavy lifting etc.

We allowed them to play at our ground for this reason but also for the fact that we’d played some of our games at their place during WW1.

That was in WW2, they started using white sleeve prior to that in 1933.

Grand Old Team

Goats 11 to start :

Pickford
Coleman - Branners - Tarks - Myko
Gana
Garner - Onana
Harrison - Beto - McNeil
  • Myko and Coleman are injured.
  • This team without McNeil as he look dead on his feet and No Harrison because he is awful
  • A bad hangover, this one, as the combination of the last month's exertions and tonight's huge disappointment comes home to roost in a 4-0 defeat. Merry Christmas.
  • Would snatch your hand off if you offered me a point.
  • Yep this is one to write off. I wouldn't put too much hope into this game. The manner in which the team lost out on a cup semi final will reverberate when Tottenham take the lead within the first 10 mins. 4-1 Tottenham sadly. Had Everton progressed to the semi finals then I think this could have been a draw as the juices would have been flowing.
  • Play the Under 12s
  • Help us Obi-Wan Doucoure, you're our only hope.
  • Unfortunately, I can't see beyond a routine Spuds win over the leggy Blues.
  • Yeah cannot see us getting much from this trip - would take a point and be very happy.
  • Anyone have info on how long myko seamus Andre gomes and young are out for?
  • Ah, the Dele derby.
  • At least no Kane falling over for a penalty. I'm sure Son will ably replace him in that respect.
  • They have Richarlison who can do a fine job in that department.
  • Bissouma and Udogie being out suspended is a blow to them. From what I have seen they start games very well and tend to fade as the game goes on. Key will be keeping them out for the first 30 mins
  • They fly out of the blocks in home games. First 20 mins is vital. They tend to run out of steam.
  • The way Spurs are 'playing' at the moment, expect to pick up a couple of injuries.
  • back to Earth for Everton not looking forward to this one.
  • Need to make most of set pieces….. spurs are not the biggest team. Even though their goalie is a good shot stopper, he is a bit like de gea looks terrible coming out to catch the ball.
  • With our best team and going in fresh I'd fancy our chances of getting something. Going to be a big ask given neither of those things are happening. Unless Spurs do us a favour by doing a Spurs.
  • As expected, even a few injuries have absolutely killed us. Best centres backs shifted to left back, best centre midfielders shifted to right wing. No chance here.
  • Spurs will be aggressive in attack but open to the counter so we need to exploit their injuries and high line.
  • Forest seemed to outplay them for long periods the other day and they're pretty garbage. Good chance to get 3 points here.
  • I agree, they closed them down and spurs made a lot of mistakes because of it.
  • But they tore Newcaslte a new hole the match before.
  • 2-0 to Spurs...we never beat that lot these days
  • Dele replaces Doucoure and rips em a new one. Then never plays again before leaving on a free. How good would that be
  • These suit us, we win this.
  • I actually think we’d have every chance without the injuries and how goosed we looked against Fulham. When Fulham stretched the game after Beto scored they ran us ragged like I haven’t seen under Dyche. Saying that though, the game plan will be different first half here as we’ll be contain/counter which is why Beto is so important I think. Maybe a chance?
  • It's only Tottenham. Obviously Tottenham being a free scoring attacking team with eyes towards the title, but even so...
  • I think Richy is going to get a couple against us
  • I don’t want richarlison to play. Can he call in sick
  • We can get at these, especially with Beto running in behind.
  • Lads, it's Spurs ..
  • Spurs are a perfect match for us in terms of style and how we play. Doesn’t mean we’ll win, but this is the type of matchup Dyche dreams about at night.
  • We're not getting beat. Perfect team for us to play against - they like possession and all out attack so takes all the pressure off us controlling the game. Press their back 4 and hit them on the break.
  • Haven't seen any spurs games this year, is Richarlison still rubbish?
  • After long spells out and in and out of form, he has actually been good past few games - just in time to score an OG winner for us
  • Same as when he was here, works hard misses chances and puts the odd few in now and again. I wouldn’t be worried about him if I was any of our defenders, the other two upfront are much more dangerous.
  • Yeah absolutely crap so we should bring him home in the summer
  • I would be, think he’s hitting a bit of form for them atm, he’s scored 3 in the last two games and across the last 3 (non of which he’s played the full 90) he’s played 168 min during which he’s had 9 shots and scored 3.
  • dont care what people say, I think we are a banana skin for any team right now
  • Their high defensive line = Beto time.
  • Has anyone in the known universe ever worked out why Tottenham are labelled as one of the "Big" 6? If we wait another forty years to win the title, wll we be as big as them?
  • They were also part of the big 5 in the 80s that we were a part of. Only won 2 league titles in their history though I think. The last being in 1961
  • I am really looking forward to this. Away game where we are not expected by anyone except us to get anything from. 4 PL wins on the bounce without conceding including against Newcastle and Chelsea and still people expect nothing from us. Our first XI is strong enough to win here. Unfortunately the more we have out the weaker we become (quite quickly).
  • Tottenham away has always been a tough fixture. I remember loads of times where we were doing well and a win there would thrust us into a great position - and the wheels came off and we got beat. However, this time the situation is a little different. If we can get Myko on the pitch and if Young/Patterson have a decent game then I can see us giving them a surprise. Our away form is really strong and they'll think were there for the taking - as Cilla would say "surprise, surprise" and we leave with a win.
  • i am utterly dreading this
  • think they will win this one comfortably, injuries to key players/positions. and we looked leggy on Tuesday
  • ….i’d be very pleasantly surprised if this is anything but a comfortable home win.
  • I'm not confident about this one.
  • Our record against these is so so bad
  • Let Spurs worry about us, they may be a good side but so are we, we have more than a fighting chance.
  • Need to get at that Romero early. Get him off the pitch and McNeil winner...
  • If the lads are right up for it, no reason why we cannot get something out of this game. Our away form has been fantastic. Bollox to the mickey mouse cup blues, lets get back at what is important. UTFT's.

I'm guessing because we've finished in the top 6 12 times in the last 15 seasons? The clue is in the name 'big 6'

Seems they are split as to how this will go which surprises me. I'd have expected a lot more confidence given our injuries but it seems like no Doucoure and an exhausting midweek game have dented their hopes.
