Arsemania, following on from this point yesterday

  • How are they within 1 point of us? I keep dismissing them due to squad depth and supposed reliance on Maddison but looks like I was wrong. Let’s see how they get on without Son I suppose. Fair play to them though, I don’t think they even spent that much.
  • They have had a lot of injuries but think the Son absence will bite them hard. He’s their only reliable goalscorer. Will soon join us in the boat of no one to score goals unless Richarlison catches a bit of fire
  • Hard to know what to make of them. Results largely impressive, exciting attacking football, but when you watch their games they concede a lot of chances, and they have outperformed their xG differential by a significant margin. Could go either way, and hard to call at this point in time, as it feels a bit Emery at Arsenal first season.
  • We've been playing without Partey,Timber,Tomi which is a huge element in helping us control games. White and Saka have been carrying a knock and Zinchenko defenisively is not as good as Tomi. This idea that Sp**s have the most injuries is idiotic, every team has had to deal with them. Aside from the Fulham match you can't point to a game where we did not look better but didn't win because of poor finishing whereas they have had many matches that could have gone against them if the other team took their chances, it's very Emery-esque and will be found out eventually.
Would Arsenal be 1 point ahead of us if they’d had Gabriel, Saliba, Rice, Odegaard and Trossard out for as long as our comparable players have been out for us?

I don’t know why you are asking me, because I don’t know the answer.

He's not talking to you, or to anyone else in this thread. It's a version of preaching to the converted because we all know this already.

He's talking to the gooner poxbiscuit who was quoted and he'll never read it. Loads of people do it. Which is why this thread is fucking strange ;)

How can they seriously include Timber in the list of missing players who are impacting how they play when he hasn’t even played 60 minutes for them 😅 there’s no way of knowing what better/worse they are without him.

It’s to give even more justification into there struggles.

It’s an interesting one.

In my view Defoe’s biggest positive was he could create his own chances. His ability to shift and shoot was excellent. But he wasn’t strong on hold up play. Didn’t assist or work hard off the ball.

Richarlison relies much more on service to get goals. But he does work hard and use his physicality a bit.

It’s hard to compare the two.
My biggest issue with Richarlisson is that he will use his physicality to win the ball, but not to hold on to it. Instead he ends up in a heap on the floor 9 times out of 10 looking for free kicks that don't come because he goes down far to soft.

I agree but this isn’t the thread for further discussion. When I posted I hadn’t paid attention to what thread I was in.

They would have gotten all of their games postponed if they had all those players missing.

I've always thought Richarlison could improve by X% merely by not falling over.

Surely Ange could/has pointed that out to him. The mystery is to why Richy continues to throw himself to the floor.

And to be fair that season was an outlier for Defoe as well, his next best was 13. Richarlison obviously isn’t the all round player Berba was, and probably not Keane either. But he’s a better player than Defoe (who did very little outside score, and as above didn’t do that very often) who is remembered a lot more fondly
Defoe was a total YID, ur gonna get pelted for that :p.

I don’t want to jam to this thread, so I’ll just say I already have. There isn’t a single player in Spurs history where the gap between general fan consensus and my opinion is bigger. Happy to debate further on the Defoe thread!

Salty much? :p

Youtube - for people who want a conversation that nobody else is interested in, so they just whine into the void... If this was worthy of discussion then you'd have had it with another human being, unfortunately I get the feeling this gives us an idea of what will be his main topic of conversation when he shows up on Talksport next

Think Rorys got the filter on too...
Loads of people are using it, there was a dude on the news the other day who looked like an AI generated version of Rafe Spall made from smooth clay, it's atrocious and I don't get why they can't see it :D

Probably because he dissappeared up his own arse years ago.
