Redcafe Match Thread:
- Mate.
- Need to defend much better but at least the RW is finally looking threatening.
- Shame that it means the LW position now is devoid of threat.
- Some opportunities on the counter attack hopefully? A repeat of the Villa game would be nice.
- I wonder how many more players will be injured again mate
- We learnt nothing from tonights game.
This years system was somewhat effective against a terrible Wigan side, apart from awful composure in front of goal.
But I think we will look far too open against a decent side.
We could have really done with Casemiro being at least fit enough to get some minutes tonight to be in with a chance of playing against spurs.
As mentioned above, I think we need to hope for a Villa-esque suicidal high line for us to take advantage of.
But think we will get dominated in midfield - Hoping we get some guys return from injury? Any news on Shaw? Rashford needs Shaw out there to get anywhere close to his best.
Onana
Wan Bissaka Varane Evans Dalot
Mainoo Eriksen
Garnacho Bruno Rashford
Hojlund
Shaw, Martinez and Casemiro come in for Wan Bissaka, Eriksen and Evans when they're fit but that's the best side we have - Agree with your best 11 when everyone is fit… but also in the shape that you propose too…
Doesn’t matter if it’s Shaw or Dalot… if it’s that weird hybrid midfield role, Rashford will continue to look crap. He 100% needs an overlapping FB to be effective. - Spurs’ high line gives us a chance.
- Lads, it’s United.
- I'd rather not
- Back to losing ways I’m afraid.
- Is Maddison back for them yet? If he is, I think we lose this.
If he isn't, I think we lose this, just not as lossy. - Same team we put out tonight and yes, that includes McTominay.
Hopefully, we'll have a stronger bench, though.
I think players like Amad and Eriksen can make a difference from the bench. Maybe we'll have a few more back from injury/ilness, too. - We’re back so we lose this
- Hojlund to begin his second goal drought.
- Front three Garnacho Hojlund and Rashford is a must because Spurs play high line.
- Big game for the season this. As it stands our chances if making top 4 are slim enough , lose this and it is extremely hard to see us make top 4. Spurs are missing quite a few as well, no excuses if we fail to turn up here.
- Lads, it's Spurs.
- Jim will see first hand just how shit we are. Spurs should win.
- Spurs will walk this and a game closer to an ETH sacking …..which will change absolutely nothing.
- Mate, it's Tottenham.
I strangely feel confident going into this one. They're missing Son, Sarr etc. and wouldn't be sitting back. If anything gives our team a chance, it's an attacking team at OT which doesn't have the best defence. - We are tailor-made for Tottenham. They are going to look like Cristiano-era Madrid on the break. Even Wigan had great chances in transition.
- I fear another abject performance and a loss here. Spurs are just too good for us at the minute. That's terrifying.
- Of course we have a chance. Any home team should have a chance. But we've already lost at home to Bournemouth and Palace and Spurs are a good team this season.
- We have a chance against Spurs, but our front line need to find their shooting boots. It's baffling, Rashford and Hojund have struggled to find any kind of form on goal this season. Garnacho has been a bit better, but not by much.
We have a "where will the goals come from?" problem that has yet to be resolved and until it's resolved we're susceptible to losing to anyone, especially decent clubs like Spurs. - Spurs essentially being a better version of Bielsa's Leeds should give us a chance here.
- We all know Dragustin will give the game of his life against us, right ?
- If you want to play a drinking game that you might not survive: take a shot of a spirit for every time the camera pans to Jim grimacing.
- Either a draw or a loss this one. Well start with McT in mid which would mean Spurs already have an upper hand in the midfield. Add Rashfords inability to run at all this season I dont see how we will exploit the spaces they leave
- As ever, we'll play well enough but not create enough, heroically contrive to miss what we do create, concede with our first attack, panic chasing the game, remove a performing Mainoo for McTominay, boo the team off and win seven nil.
Though one of those may be a miscalculation. - 'as ever, we'll play well enough'. Really, when did we last play well? Our standards are so low. A few bits of possession play and the odd good move seem to be the standard now. We have been dire nearly all season. A key part of playing well is also not being constantly carved open and creating some good chances.
- Didn't realize Son was missing for this?
That's like us missing...well, no, we don't have any players as good as him, so - No Son? Feck yea get in we have a chance.
1-0 United with Hojlund breaking his PL duck. - If Van De Ven is back we lose this, if they line up with Emerson and Dragusin as their CB pairing then we have a chance, our attackers other than Garnacho are absolutely pathetic but Spurs do concede a lot of chances.
- We should have won this game earlier in the season when we had the blatant handball knocked back and we were the better team.
Two one victory for us is my prediction. - Yes i remember the game, we had good control and chances. We dint take them and then the awful handball not given.
They scored and we just capitulated. Hopefully we can take our chances now.
