Nothing that amusing really:

f**king Eriksen.

ffs

eriksen again

Wonder when betting companies will stop taking bets on Eriksen scoring in the last 10 mins.

Spurs in the final. Hope we f**king destroy them

f**k them, let's have our revenge

I was just about to say that Blades of Glory is on BBC3 but that joke's been ruined now.

Vertonghen just grabbed a Sheff player by the throat - I want the FA to charge him with violent conduct

Kyle Walker complete professional reaction to a potentially dangerous tackle by the United player. Vertongen throttles him by the throat. What a c**t.

Ah damn, Spurs it is then. Grats to Spud.

Have to admit I am gutted though. Had the Blades gone through either I could have celebrated our trophy win or enjoyed seeing my dad celebrate his first trophy for the Blades.

anyone with a twitter account should demand Vertonghen is investigated by the FA for violent conduct #bbcfootball
Spurs have an away Europa League tie in Italy against Fiorentina 3 days before the final.

Thankfully our Champions League game is the week before so we have a free week in between Burnley and the final.

I think someone needs to photoshop some Vulcan 'spock' ears on Vertonghen :ROFLMAO:

Embarrasing reaction by Basham
True but I'm not impressed with Verts. You don't raise your hand to another player even its to tickle their windpipe......it's just not worth the risk..... Very unspursey that he got away with it

After he'd seen Basham slide into Vorm and hurt him in a match where emotions were high anyway, I don't think he had time to really think it through. He didn't shove him, put his hand around his neck, throttle him, butt him etc.

It really wasn't as bad as people think tbh, that camera angle and Basham really make a meal of it

I'm thinking something like this, but using something with a bit more power than MS Paint

Looks like Jan is mid Quantum Leap into Spock.

Who happens to be strangling a double lookalike of David Bowie and Keith Richards.

To be honest I'm glad to see one of our players standing up for a team-mate, especially since it looked very much like Basham had kicked Vorm directly in the face (and would've done, had the ball not been between Vorm's face and Basham's boot).

Jan can't win, he either apparently doesn't give a shit about Spurs, or he shows some real passion and gets told he's been stupid.

There was no risk, the ref was fully capable of seeing what had happened and dealt with the situation perfectly - it was a booking for the United player for a dangerous tackle, and a word of warning for Jan, nothing more.

Also, Vorm is that gorgeous that any attempt at facial injury must be met with the harshest of punishments.

He put his hand on the guys throat/neck. I just think things like that are why he is not automatic choice for captain. I love the guy but it was a foolish decision that could have seen him sent off because emotions were high.

Yeah whilst the ref did handle it very well, on another night Vertonghen might have seen a different reaction from another ref, so it was a silly thing to do. Not faulting his passion at the moment though, seems a much happier player at the moment here at Spurs.

I think it's why he should be captain.

I'd rather Jan than Michael "I'll get me dad on yer" Dawson or Younes "Wasn't my fault" Kaboul.

Nearly every successful team has a captain who has fire in his belly and is the first to step in to a battle (in any metaphorical sense). We've been missing that for quite a while, if you ask me.

The difference to last season is extraordinary. No longer has face like slapped arse.

No I don't think its wise having too much of a hot head as captain. You need to lead by example in all instances and what Jan did would go against that. That being said, i am not against Vertonghen being considered for the captaincy, but it would NOT be based upon what he did last night and i would hope to see that kept in check if he was given the armband.

I agree but he has a history of acting petulantly and its something I'd like to see him take out of his game. The fact is its not him I'm worried about. How many times do you see a referee send someone off for something as largely unviolent as he did last night.

You got to be smarter than that. it has nothing to do with his passion.

Exactly. Calm heads win you games, especially when you are on the back foot.

To be honest, it's just my opinion.

I see the rewards outweighing the risks. We've all been too camp and fluffy as a team for too long; I'm only too happy to see a bit of spice, as it's how players like Keane and Viera won so much in their careers. I'm not saying we need to be like Pulis' Stoke, but that's it's a good sign to see some fire in their bellies

Hence, perhaps, Eriksen's ability to pull off a winner in the dying minutes so often? Just a thought. But he does have about the calmest head in top flight football it seems. He never looks flustered, strokes the ball in, never putting more on it than is required to do the job ... calmness personified for the most part.

Maybe i'm talking bollocks, it's jsut struck me when you said that that that might be a part of the reason he seems to be able to pull someting off in the dying (stressful) minutes. Clear head.

Yeah he has that calmness about him and that's what gives him the composure to do what he does. I think all the very top players have that composure - when it counts, they produce.

Ah man, this has proper cracked me up. Not just the fact that the poor editing adds to the hilarity, but that Vertonghen looks so happy while carrying out the manoeuvre. For someone who's got a reputation for being miserable, Vertonghen comes up with some funny moments - the pantsing and the Chadli goal celebration being my two favourite moments

I completely agree.

A sheff United player had a chance just before that and blasted it over the bar.

Eritksens finish was cool headedness personified.

Two calm heads in Eriksen and Harry. Both never really look ruffled. That pass was absolutely perfect from Harry and to have the composure to play it so late after what had just happened, 30k roaring fans and United players swarming around like flies on shit was outstanding.

Then there's Eriksen, Mr Cool himself, as soon as he took his first touch, I knew it was in. Contrast that with anyone else, particularly our two senior strikers and it really goes to show how he's become Mr reliable for us.
