I'm genuinely curious now as to what other clubs' proportion of goals came from their top 3 goalscorers combined. Seems to me that any club with 1 or 2 prolific goalscorers would have a % which looked vulnerable by this guy's logic. To me it essentially reads like a way of warping the statistics to make it look like Liverpool's lack of a regular goalscorer last season was somehow deliberate!

& @Flynn - Almost every article I have read has stated that we were overly dependent on Kane's goals last season - and that has probably influenced other clubs' fans. I think that what they mean is there is a lot of pressure on Kane to stay fit and on form as we didn't have any other strikers we could rely on to chip in with goals. And they would be right to say that. But it is somewhat different to saying we were overly dependent on his goals - we had three goalscorers into double figures last season. How many other clubs can say the same?

In any case, I seriously doubt that the transfer window cling will see us with either Kane and squat, or Kane, Adebayor and Poor Bobby.

actually - it probably is better to have 9 strikers, than just the 2 we have (not including Ade - as all reports indicate he will play no part).
Would be great if we could add at least 1 additional striker, a creative midfielder and a winger (if lennon and townsend are both off) into the squad

Having 7 strikers complaining about playtime would lower squad morale.

I think he might be onto something as I suspect most teams have their goals spread more evenly throughout the team (our CMs and CBs scored very few last season). However, it's pretty funny for a Liverpool fan to be making that statement after their 13/14 season when over 80% of their goals were scored by only two players, Suarez and Sturridge.

Chelsea - 56%
Man City - 57%
Arsenal - 52%
Man Utd - 50%
Liverpool - 42%

Our 72% looks really bad, but when you consider our 2 back up strikers scored 3 combined and it was our 2 CMs first full season in the top flight, I don't think we should be worried as long as we bring in a new back up striker and a wide forward.

Actually, their top 3 (Suarez, Sturridge & Gerrard) only accounted for 65% of their goals that season.

Spurs pull everybody's pants down when it comes to transfers, after Sandro they can go get f'd!

£2m with a year left on his contract!!

So a kid that's prob been loaned out his whole career they want silly little Qpr to stump up the cash for his first transfer & line there pockets!

Bollox £500k or get f'd!

Excuse the rant but that has wound me up something chronic!

most opposition fans I speak to are wondering are we actually going to do any positive business this window ..... I ensure them we will do business but will we be improved come 1st Sept in terms of the 11 we put on the pitch that I am less sure of.

They are linked with Berahino now in The Telegraph, although a £10m opening bid really is laughable. Also supposedly had a bid for Schalke's Leroy Sane rejected and are interested in a few other Bundesliga players (Sven Bender, Christoph Kramer, Timo Werner). Still looks like they'll be dumping Chirches, Lennon, Adebayor and Soldado.

Twitter (yes, I know!!) was rife last night that they may send Lamela out on loan, with Porto seemingly the destination.

Can't really see that happening to be honest, as they don't have the numbers in their squad anymore, especially with Europa League football to deal with, and also there is no-one really there to take his place - unless Poch has decided that Townsend or Lennon still has a role to play!

Alex Pritchard is the obvious name as a ready made replacement, did very well out on loan last season and Pochettino has already said he'll be kept around this year. One in one out and it's exactly the same number of wingers/AMs they had around for last seasons campaign.

No club is going to be wanting to keep around a big money flop like Lamela just to make up the numbers in their squad. Getting rid of him might free up enough wages to upgrade one of Townsend or Lennon before the end of the window.

Levy and his ridiculous bids .Last season they made 10mil for Schnidelein pissing off Southampton and now 10 mil for Berahino

Their bid for Ings, supposedly for no other reason than to piss us off, could really come back to bite them in the arse for that deal.

^ Not sure about that as 5th in his first season has to be seen as good. Looks to be pretty settled & being allowed to change the squad round this window. With the new stadium to be funded makes sense for a period of stability. Still need a striker but the likes of Alderweireld, Wimmer & Trippier are some low key but solid signings. Building a good young core.

Lamela, like Paulinho, is an example of a foreign player coming over and not having the stomach for the fight. Spurs need to get rid as quick as possible.

Well they've been better in the league 4 times of the last 5. Rodgers, I'd say is under far, far more pressure than Pochettino to get his shit together.

Yeah, but if we look at Spurs history, Levy gets rid of managers so quickly it's silly. They get one season, then, if they aren't looking at top four they come under immense pressure as they know they will get fired...

It's a self fulfilling prophecy.....

We've done positive business this window. Wimmer, Toby, Trippier, all good additions. Even more so now, Poch is weeding out the shite.

Of those signed to date I dont see more than TA being first choice and a possible improvement on what we had last season.
Weeding out the crap is all well and good if you go and buy better, we haven't done that with just over a week to the start of the new season.
I am not convinced, if you believe the players we are linked to, that what we will buy will be significantly game changing better .... time will tell I guess

Redcafe:

I rated him well before he become the next big thing. But hes only had one good season, and it was not even a full season.

He is a good player could become a excellent striker for years to come but he has not done regularly yet, and to bank on potential, for 40m we should be looking at the kind of talent Rooney or Aguero possessed before moving to a bigger club.

I'd love to know which part of the season that Kane was not 'good'.
