Hahaha. So Paul Merson brings up Liverpool selling Salah and Phil Thompson looks at him with disgust and shakes his head. They do this with Spurs players every fucking week. And then Jeff Stelling is like 'we won't go into the Real Madrid stuff'. If there were new Kane to Madrid rumours they'd talk about it for 10 minutes.

I don't think Ian Wright was very much of a football fan at all, maybe Crystal Palace but not a big fan and I very much doubt if he had any family tradition with a club. I think people like us find it hard to grasp that there is a whole population out there whose week is not made wonderful or fucked up by the last weekend's result and I doubt he had any family tradition with a club.
Arsenal is his club because he played for them and, let's be honest, fell in love with them, you can see that when they win and when they lose, their troubles at the moment are hurting him but he never slags off another club to make him feel better.

I'm a Spurs fan and I admit it, I admit that I enjoy listening to Ian Wright.:cautious:

I remember a few years ago (probably more than that now...) when his stepson Sean Wright-Philips was the subject of an enquiry from Tottenham, and loads of Arsenal fans were giving him (Ian) some abuse on social media because of his Goon connections, saying 'how could he let his son play for Tottenham'?

He was very angry with them and said if his son wanted to play for Spurs he would never try to stop him and in fact he'd back him and his decision all the way. Despite all the banter between Wrighty and us in his playing days, he went up a great deal in my estimation when I heard that.

Not like that tosser Pires, who said a while back he would never let his son play for us.

If anyone needs the definition of what a real **** looks and sounds like, look no further.

No, no, it's not like Liverpool would sell their best players to one of the big two in Spain...

I feel like he's often trying to provoke a reaction with what he says, whether from fellow pundits or fans. It's sort of like he's being a **** on purpose, but in a more considered way than someone like Wise who just is a **** regardless of what he might try and do. A cock-juggling-thunder-****.

I think Sutton is just a say what you think type guy. Its just the way he is. As a pundit its entertaining.

I think he's been a little more calculated than that. He definitely looked at Savage and thought there is another spot for a trolling, WUM type pundit. And to be fair to him, he was right.

Very rarely do I watch them tbh. I don't go near the Sunday Supplement program.

They should call it "the endless cliche narrative programme".

I like The Game podcast from The Times - Gab Marcotti will always question a an accepted narrative such as Harry Kane must get paid £250-300k/week or he will definitely leave. It's actually quite refreshing to see a journalist aggressively challenge what has become in some quarters accepted fact.

Wise was on a few weeks ago explaining in his very expert opinion why Chelsea would have caught and overtaken us by now. Really wish I had recorded it now:)

I saw that and was so irritated I tweeted and I never tweet.

It went viral with my 11 followers, although 2 of those I think are robots one is a bloke who wants me to buy his music and 3 are my Mum who's joined twitter at annual intervals so it probably didn't have the reach I'd hoped.

Funny that Wise (who's greatest legacy is having a golf shot named after him "a nasty five footer") weeks down the line refuses to concede to that fact that we are decent even after turning over his beloved Chelsea, he's clinging onto the 90's.

Funny to see so many people saying how great Ian Wright is as a pundit because he says nice things about Tottenham despite the fact he has never said an insightful thing in his life, he might as well be Dave from the pub rambling about soldiers and 'heart'.

Also, he wears stupid hats.

Has Ian Wright ever said a negative thing about Spurs? Ever?

No way is Wrighty a Spurs fan.
I remember him going mental in the studio when we beat them 2-3 at the Emirates. He hated it. I also remember many games where he goaded Spurs fans after scoring, especially in a 1-1 draw at the Lane in the mid 90's. He scored a penalty to level it and stuck his fingers up at the crowd.

Wright certainly played with a huge amount of edge.

He wound up opposing fans and players alike.

He revelled in big atmospheres and loved Derbies.

He didn’t have any real dislike for us though.

I read his autobiography, don’t recall him saying who he supported.

I never said he's a "great" pundit, I just said I think he's a top bloke. Anyone who saw the documentary where he meets his old school teacher, would think so. Gets me every time, this...
