Just watching Football Focus. Kevin Kilbane and Lawro are talking about the Prem. How both can say Spurs are not in the title race is absurd. Kilbane has just mentioned that United are. Neither think we'll finish in the top 4. How are we still overlooked?
Not surprising from Lawro, but I've come to expect better from Kilbane.

You may never have seen it, but in the 90s, Channel 4 had Italian Football with James Richardson and it was excellent. He did a round up show, too. I think he's on BT now (not sure). But BT have gone down the shouty route with Robbie Savage. Someone put it to me on twitter this evening that media seems to be one of the few industries which gets worse when there is more competition. Everyone just sinks down to the low standards of the others instead of trying to be better. Don't the viewing public want better for their increasing fees?
Gazzetta Football Italia on a Saturday morning was superb.

What pissed me off is that Jeff Stelling just outright stated before any discussion that 'We know Tottenham are a selling club', when the last time we sold a top player was fucking 2013. Twat.

Talkshite often claim this as well. Usually their comment is "we know that if the price is right, Daniel Levy will sell".

No. What we know - from the sales of Keane, Berbatov, Modric and Bale - is that if a player makes it clear they want a move to happen then the only thing we can do as a club is negotiate a good price. This is no different to Liverpool (Suarez/Sterling), Arsenal (Fabregas, Nasri) or even Man Utd (Ronaldo).

These same twats will then go on and say well nobody could turn down Real Madrid or United too. Literally we've only lost players to the two biggest clubs in world football.

Please stop getting wound up by these pillocks. We all know there is an agenda, Man Ure, Chavski, Ar5ena1, Liverpool and more recently Man Citeh are SKY's biggest tv draws globally, so dont get angry, get fucking smug when we spoil the party!! (y)

I shouldn't be surprised, but on Sunday Supplement this morning the key topic (after Shrek reaching 149 goals by scoring against a shit side) is whether or not Alli is moving to Barca or Real. Ashton saying our "battle" to keep him has started.

They mentioned his great performance against Chelsea, but haven't talked about our fantastic result. Apart from Samuel saying "the result wasn't a disaster for Chelsea, and Pochettino would much rather be seven points clear of Chelsea having lost."

My god they hate giving us credit. If Liverpool had stopped Chelsea's run in its tracks, they'd have been praising them to the heavens.

You're never gon a get any credit from Ashton or Samuel. It's well known Ashton hates us and Samuel is a pathetic west ham fan, so no surprises there really.

So basically we beat Chelsea, and find a new superstar and the media still manage to turn it into a bad thing, as now we'll struggle to keep him.... I hate this country.

Not at all worried though. This situation is so vastly different to the Bale, Modric, Berbatov situations in that they essentially did it on their own in fairly mediocre teams. The club was never going to match their ambitions at that point whereas this team could go right to the top. If this season carries on this way there will just be another batch of Pochposes next summer and the media will have to wait another 6 months.

Biggest change since modric etc left is that we are genuinely competing. Under AVB and redknapp we were close to top four. Now we are close to winning the league.

More than happy to be written off by press and pundits.

Let them heap all the attention and pressure on the other teams including Liverpool and we can just quietly get on with what we're doing.

I love that we are clearly a massive spanner in the works when it comes to what the pundits and media want this season, or any season to pan out. Let them dismiss us all they like, as a club we aren't even hitting 50% of our potential yet, and deep, deep, and in Lawro's case, deep, deep, deep down, they all fucking know it.

We strolled to victory over the latest media darling, Chelsea, absolutely strolled, with a side that cost a third of theirs and full of Englishmen too. We should be the media darlings but I love that we aren't. Even the coverage of our live games will always be drenched with ex-goons, be it the pundit or the co-commentator. There's a real underlying anti-Spurs agenda in certain sections of the media and it's great. I'm not sure if it's Levy's refusal to accept his lot and play ball with the big boys or if it's a case of a real pro-"established" big 4/5 which means as a result there's an anti-Spurs feel, but whatever the reason it's definitely there. It's so transparent.

Spurs beat champions elect Chelsea and the stories are 'Spurs face fight to keep Alli'. Even if he goes, which he won't, it'll make the Pogba deal look like chump change and will only further help our development as a club. The whole stadium thing is even reported as being a negative too! It's not about Spurs building a mega stadium, no it's all stories about the £500m+ cost and how it's going to effect our spending etc! The fail to notice that we don't really spend too much and can still challenge the sugar daddy, mega rich clubs who spunk £100m's looking for their answers!

Given our approach, a proper team working together, full of Englishmen and our commitment to developing our own youth, we should be championed by every section of the media.

I don't understand the British media. How Can Chelsea be media darlings? Nothing about that club is nice. From the fans to owner nothing likeable. Even their players are massive tools. I hate the media

I agree completely mate, it's so obvious that there is an anti spurs agenda, I myself don't understand it either but I do believe it's something to do with our sacking of Redknapp personally.

When he was here they were extremely complimentary of us, it literally hurts them to compliment us now.

However I do agree, if anything we should be the media darlings, majority English squad, manager that is brining young talent through doing things the right way instead of polluting the game with more money and nonsense.

But like you said, a lot of the media are "The established top 4" fans (although that in itself is a joke because it's not established anymore, if anything we have been the one club to at least consistently finish in the top six over the last 7 seasons despite numerous problems.)

However that doesn't stop them, a lot of the pundits still think this is a world where United are winning the league every year and Liverpool are going to win the champions league again, at least that's what they want, maybe they believe if they say it enough eventually it will happen again.

Either way, the media in this country is a joke and the punditry and coverage is ridiculous and the worst part about it is they do have an impact on post match decisions to an unfair degree, how they micro analyse every decision that THEY feel deserves it but ignore others because it doesn't fit their agenda.

The coverage after our match against Chelsea on Sky was a disgrace, they barely gave us any credit and even had a damn video reel lined up at the end that was blatantly made to celebrate Chelsea breaking a record with our goals just thrown in at the end.

Same with BBC, they are just as bad, last season was a disgrace on the run in and don't even get me started on the fact we had to play 3 Monday nights in a row AFTER Leicester so we are playing catch up (something that has never happened in a title race before) whilst having to hear Tyler and company going on about how fantastic it would be to have Leicester win it 24/7.

If it was Liverpool stopping them we would be having a parade and RAWK would be breaking the lube out.
