Amazing to think if we had signed Diaz we almost certainly wouldnt have gotten Kulu. Not to say Diaz isnt also an excellent player, but something about Kulu just feels so right with the team, personally wouldnt take a straight swap now if offered it as he's already one of the boys and one of us!

Agreed, and at just twenty one, if he remains injury free he should be good to go for decade. Cheap as chips at the cost as well.
A very shrewd signing by Paratici.

Why is this even a story on BBC?

I agree, but the wider media have spent the past 6 months encouraging the belief that Conte was bound to discover that Levy had conned him into coming to us and would jump ship at the first opportunity.

(By way of comparison with the media treatment of Spurs, there was an illuminating article in the Spectator that explains what a twat Jurgen Klopp has been in his treatment of various pundits and reporters over the past 18 months, but the footballing media have always chosen to look the other way... https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/is-j-rgen-klopp-really-football-s-mr-nice-guy- )

Not fully sure where to put this, but thought it was interesting to see our best season pop up in some form of validation.

If you even out by games per season, it's the 4th highest performing (as 94/95 was a 42 game season)

Even if you ignored the points tally and focused on the WDL (only 4 defeats) columns and the GD. That really is title winning performance in pretty much every season.

It's typical we were outdone by a team who were fortunate to have no European football. I know Conte was a large reason why they won it and he may have done so anyway. But it certainly helped.

Lost 1 game, earn 97 points and come second. And then 3 years later you have 92 points, 2 defeats and again come second. It's just unbelievable. I would have given up football if that had happened to Spurs.

3. Tottenham

Last season - 4th

I share the big expectations for Spurs this season because they are now in the hands of one of the world's great coaches in Antonio Conte who will give - and demand - a winning mentality this club has lacked.

Conte has also convinced chairman Daniel Levy that deals are best done early so there has been some serious squad strengthening.

Richarlison, at £60m from Everton, gives an already stellar attack another dimension and added depth while Yves Bissouma was outstanding for Brighton in midfield last season. Croatia international Ivan Perisic will bring experience, quality and versatility.

Out on a limb here. Top four and a trophy for Spurs as long as they keep Mr Conte happy.

We usually do better when they all under estimate us.

Have you any evidence for that? Or is it just superstition?

Our two best seasons were the ones when everyone in the media was full of excitement and praise for Pochettino's young, energetic team.
I'm surprised at the results as here on SC we're constantly being told that the media have an agenda or bias against Spurs.

Watched the first part of the Overlap and it's just weird that a lot of fans still aren't taking us seriously.

The format was a bit strange as well.

First ten minutes were about City, who finished 1st
Second 10 mins were about Liverpool who finished 2nd
Third 10 minutes was about Chelsea, who finished 3rd.
Fouth 10 minutes were about.....Arsenal.
Then Spurs got a whole 4 minutes which mainly consisted of Robbie banging the 1 point drum.
Next 10 mins were about Utd.

Neville did say he had us for 3rd though and possibly pushing for 2nd if one of the other 2 have a slump :D

Flav and Bardi have both been on it from TFC Podcast, always think they do well not to lose their shit when the likes of Ty, Robbie or the AFTV girl who marched down the high road just incessantly shout over anything they say, especially when it's usually fact based, and it was more of the same on yesterday's.

Arsenal fans really do shout the loudest except when they're actually at a game.
