Tbf our last two performances haven't been great. Chelsea have a decent buildup and good players, they just can't put the ball in the back of the net.
So did we, and we are still top. Imagine when we are clicking in the forward three, how many more goals we are going to score in each game.

Are people still getting annoyed at what Paul Merson says? Just ignore him.

I think people respond in the faint hope that his employers stop giving his stupid opinions oxygen. Unfortunately, he's built his media career around being thick as pig shit so I doubt anything will come of it. Same with Keown. They fit the Talksport template of triggering people and getting responses.

I know what Merson means tbh. They are a bad match up for us tactically. Very dangerous game.
I disagree.

I think we are a bad match up for them. Yes Chelsea struggle with playing against a deep block but they also struggle against teams that dominate possession. They try to flood the midfield with their press and get chances in transition but even against Arsenal they had only 42% possession because they aren't good at keeping the ball.

Against Spurs, who have an extra inverted player in that midfield they will likely have even less possession and they won't have the benefit of pace advantage against our backline.

I think we will get ahead and I suspect, similarly to Burnley, they will keep coming at us, and we could put them to the sword.

Well, I'm off to take a shit in the hope that it convinces Israel and Hamas to agree a long lasting peacful two state solution. I expect similar levels of success.

I really want to believe he says this stuff to get a reaction, but I am starting to think he genuinely believes what he is saying.
A quote from Merson

"We wouldn't do it on a Friday because we played Saturday. Load of money on the coffee table and then we'd start drinking red wine. "Every hour we'd pop a sleeping tablet and whoever fell asleep last picked the money off the table and went to bed."

with that in mind - why do you give a fuck what he thinks? Literally no brain cells left over there

I don't think Merson should even be posted in here, he hardly counts as a 'pundit' the guy is clueless and biased, seems like a decent bloke but every opinion of his will always be that Spurs are rubbish and are going to lose every match so what's the point in even posting it.

No one takes him seriously, pantomime villain.

Only kept in a job out of sympathy innit.

I hope someone also had a word with him about his behaviour when talking to the ref on the show the other week, as perfectly displayed the poor behaviour footballers show towards officials.

This pearler did make me laugh though;

"They've been to Arsenal and got a 2-2 draw but let's be honest, if Gabriel Jesus scores when James Maddison gives the ball away I think Arsenal go and win that game by four or five."

*facepalm
He's not being fair there.

They would've won by twelve or possibly even thirteen.

He initially said they'd beat us 8-0 in that game. After his comments about being shocked if Chelsea dont beat us hes now said United must be kicking themselves that they never appointed Ange.... Hmmm ok then that makes sense... Merson is just scared of us methinks.

I saw that and I thought his behaviour was atrocious. Screaming at the guy who was their to explain the laws of the game.

"What are you on abaat, the law? He's not going to be arrested"

Nice bloke or not, complete muppet

That’s possibly the most Merson article ever - which isn’t a compliment. It’s an entertaining read though.

The bit where he says even last season we weren’t expected to beat Chelsea seems to completely understate just how dysfunctional Chelsea were at that point last season - they couldn’t buy a win!
"I like watching James Maddison. I do still think he needs to turn up and regularly do it in the big games. For me, that's probably the question mark he's had hanging over him."

Two assists at The Emirates or did you forget that in your drunken haze Merse?

Let’s leave his drinking problems out of it. Criticise him for talking shite by all means

Don't care about Merson, idiot, betting, drink, Gooner...... But what really ground my gears was that bit in his latest column about something something Spurs, twat.

Bet he does the same 'something something Spurs' in next week's column, the twat.

No he's kept in a job because he says controversial shit like this that fans can't wait to retweet and or reply to. He's a big hit on soccer Saturday because he is constantly arguing with other pundits because of his OTT bias opinions.

He's the Piers Morgan of punditry and he'll keep his job as long as people continue to react to the waffle he keeps on spouting.
