I bet some people are looking pretty foolish right now:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

He was probably under the knife or not yet cleared to travel due to it. Thats all.

If the alternative is to let Lamela go, and sign another midfielder for the same range of price, I'll say we're better off with keeping Lamela, as long as he wants to stay. We know what we're got, but not what we'll get. Lamela is a capable player. And I don't think he still has managed to play at his very best for us. I'm sure he has more to show.

He has a year left on his contract.
I'm sure one thing we can ALL agree on is he has to sign a new deal or go this summer.
We can't have him around with a year left and him go for free.

If his injury makes it impossible to leave he needs to man up and sign a new deal. He owes us that for the amount of football he's missed.

Lamela covers a huge amount of ground in a match.
Not only dribbling and attacking...but closing down.
He galvanises others into action with his commitment to close down.
He would be a big asset to the squad at Wembley next season if his heart is in it.
Hopefully Poch puts an arm around him and tells him he believes in him.

We have an option to extend his contract until 2020. Not sure what you mean by legalities.

I mean, if we exercised our right to extend it, would it hold up if he challenged it.
Has it ever been done before? Has he been offered any new contracts since 2013 and not signed them?
Am I right in thinking only he and Alderweireld have contracts running down?

He has a legally binding clause in his contract that we can activate. We add that clause for every contract if possible as far as I'm aware and yes, it has been done plenty of times. I see no reason why he would challenge it. He spoke in October of 2016 of how he wanted to stay for many years and sign a new deal:

Fucking hell

I'm not suggesting the club have covered anything up. I doubted everything i was told, but was wondering what the actual laws are surrounding that sort of thing...

Im guessing from the response, the rules/answer has been done to death - so i guess i'll trudge back and see what you already know 10x over...
