One of football's worst kept secrets has finally been confirmed - Antonio Conte has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur.

The Italian was given his marching orders on Sunday night, over a week after criticising his players' commitment having let a two-goal lead slip late on in their 3-3 draw at struggling Southampton.

Personally I believe Conte has bigger things going on right now, and that's why he was happy to go by mutual agreement, and not concerned about Christian staying on.

I don’t think Levy is alone in having difficulties with Conte, and vice versa of course. Personally I’m delighted Conte has gone.

As I said, not a good match. Levy likes a manager who does a good job on a shoe string budget. That’s a miracle worker. And even they will ask to furnish the house eventually…

I'm guessing Conte is planning on an extended time-out from the game. I doubt he will be working for someone else when the next season starts so it would be unfair to keep his support team idle for an undefined duration when there are other offers to keep them working/earning.

I remember not wanting Conte as I thought he wouldn’t fit with Levy.
