Will you shrug your shoulders and accept it?
Will you naively think we can replace him with all that lovely cash? (We can't BTW. We will just buy more players in the 'just below the top' bracket. We have PLENTY of those)
Will you protest in a season ticket burning rage outside the ground with a burning Levy voodo doll?
Will you flap about, call Levy every name under the sun, but not take any meaningful action to show that it is not acceptable?
IMO, Berbatov, Modric, Carrick, they were all different scenarios, good players, but we got the right money for them, and that was that. Bale is a different kettle of fish.
He is one of the best players in the world and still in his early twenties.
He is a global face for football.
A global face for the club for years to come.
100 million is not enough for what he can do for us if we keep him for for 7-10 years. He has the potential to be the best player we have had in the last 20 years.
I've suffered us through the dreadful times, and put up with some bullshit in too many transfer windows, but I think selling Bale would be the ultimate Levy kick in the teeth to our fans. One that would cement a currently mild belief, that money has become more important to the board than the fans of the club. He was genuinely the only thing worth going to Spurs for for most of last season. We huffed and puffed for results, and then Bale did something incredible. No one else had any entertainment value. (Well Freund, bless him)
Selling Bale would leave me intensely disillusioned with being a Tottenham supporter for the first time in my life. It would be the first time that I would think, we are content as an also ran, instead of one who was striving to retake it's place among giants. A scary thought.
