I was going to overlook the fact that BAE is in the pic. But then I thought about Rose/Naughton/Fryers.

To me the current team has no soul. Rafa, allthough limited, was still world class. He had the swagger of someone who had captained their country at a world cup final. He was a winner, and would give his all. Our current team has no one who will stand up and refuse to lose. We just roll over. Rafa wouldn't have stood for the shit that's gone on this year. The game is about Glory photo is one of the most iconic Spurs photos. Never has a player been so "Spursy".

Modric, allthough a little rat fuced ****bastard, is one of the greatest players I have ever seen in the flesh. Just a beautiful beautiful footballer. The way he sprayed the ball around was a joy to behold. You knew that wherever he recieved the ball. He probably wouldnt lose it. Even if he was being marked by 3 of the opposition. I miss the little ****... he stayed another year when he was told he could leave, and to be fair to him, his performance levels didnt drop.

Bale. There are no words. A freak of nature. Just an awesome awesome footballer. One that I feel priveleged to have watched grow in our shirt. He has given me some unbelievable highs. just phenomenal. That goal V West Ham. The night at the San Siro... The Taxi for Maicon. Amazing.

Ultimately this thread serves no purpose. Sue me.

I hate you Jim.

You've just made me cry.

It's horrific isn't it. That trio were just phenomenal. If they had the solid defence that we had at the beginning of this season, who knows what could have happened.

We played with these three in the fucking champions league. Amazing how we didn't show any intent to capitilise on it as cement a position at the top table. ENIC have so much to answer for.

The spine of our team that year...

Ledley King
Luka Modric
Rafa Van Der Vaart
Gareth Bale.

Four genuinely world class players. An absolute joke that we did'nt spend the money required at the time. Can you imagine what would have happened? We got Saha & Nelsen.

A combined team from the last couple of seasons...

Lloris

Walker
King (the most missed!)
Vertonghen
BAE

Sandro
Modric
VDV

Bale
Berba/Ade
Pienaar/Kranjcar ...IMO, two very underestimated players.

Is everyone forgetting that pretty much the same squad won more games from losing positions last year than any other? OK Bale was a big part of that, but the team did have guts.

It is not the players that lack character this season, it is the lack of leadership which has stymied the club.

Tbf, VdV wasn't and isn't the saviour of Hamburg since he is there .

It just don't work out for us in any area. Our players are playing without any clue what to do, without determination, without....

It is a complete clusterfuck.

I'd give an arm and a leg for any one of those three, I'd give up a second arm, one of my eyes, a testicle and my magnificent Disney Prince hair for all of them, and if you threw Ekotto into the deal I'd happily let an elephant have his depraved way with me for an evening. Then, a Ledley King with knees, well I don't have anything worthy of giving up for that, so I'd have to let Ledley himself (and his 20 mans downstairs) decide.

Lloris
Walker Kaboul King Ekotto
Sandro Modric
Lamela VDV Bale
Adebayor

I'm off to slit my wrists now.

If you do that old equate-goals-to-points thing, then Bale really didn't have that huge a part in our points-from-losing-positions total. We won 23 points from losing positions last season, Bale's goals directly equated for three of those (West Ham and Norwich). That's not to diminish Bale's importance to the team as a whole, more to emphasise that it was a team effort when we came back in games last season.

How about Harry? Despite his love of talking to the press, we had exciting football and the players clearly believed in him.

I'll trade you a few shinies for them! Got a nice one of Iain Dowie too, you can have that as well.
