Over the past few seasons Spurs have had a top class strikeforce without a midfield goal scoring threat to back it up. Last season due to injury, Robinson's continued poor form, and an inability to defend set pieces, we didn't have a dense either. We've now lost Defoe and Keane (40 goals plus from one position when played as a tag team) and are most likely to lose Berbatov (25 goals per season). That's 65 goals per season we'll need to find from elsewhere. Someone highlighted that Gomes will not let in as many as Robinson which is probably true but we will still need to score a lot of goals to make up for the loss of a top class strikeforce (Defoe, Keane, Berbatov). Althought Bent has scored for fun in preseason, it is only for fun, and it remains to be seen if he can maintain a good scoring rate. It is also not certain that any of the likely replacements will be as good either. Arshavin (now no longer coming???) has never been a high scoring striker, why should we think that he could score 20 goals per season plus for Spurs. Bentley, Modric, and Dos Santos, will need to score a lot more goals than our previous midfield to compensate for the lack of goals from our strikers. Assuming we sell Berbatov of course.
