I still think City will be less good than last year.

Haaland is world class. His movement and finishing is unrivalled.

But those weren't problems for City last season. And he doesn't offer much else, unlike everyone else in their squad.

He'll help them put even more past the opposition in some games undoubtedly.

But I think his detraction from the team's existing ethos will turn more potential wins into draws than vice-versa.

We're the famous Tottenham Hotspur and we're gonna win the league!!! COYS!

Will be able to make a better assertion after the game at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea still have a star-studded XI but they don’t look right atm, fitness and morale problems. If we go there and roll over again then it will be a big setback.

Agreed, it's a big mental test this. Perhaps the biggest yet under Conte.

Its a good time to go to the Bridge.

But can we show the collective mental strength? Or will we shrink and ultimately roll over like we normally do there...

I think our time is now to take that next step.

I fancy us to do them, I really do.

So week one down. Can't grumble about the performance. Chelsea up next will be a tougher test but you have to be confident. They struggled to beat a striker less Everton. Hopefully they are still off the pace next week.

All in all a good weekend. City looked a bit lost first half. Haaland will tear up the league if teams keep playing high line against them. However I expect them to score less as a team due to haaland staying down the middle. They scored loads due to movement from their front 5/6.

Liverpool looked like they were missing Mane energy up top. Also their squad looks short.

United look a mess and could take a while to sort out

Arsenal looked lively for 25mins then looked average. But for some poor finishing could have been totally different outcome.

Let's hope we get a couple more over the line and make a decent fist of this season.

After one round of games, everything points to us having a better season points wise.

If we draw or win at Chelsea, I will back ourself to finish 3rd or even 2nd. Liverpool doesnt look that good. Mane seems a huge miss.
That Van Dijk challenge on Mitrovic says to me the dude is slowing down. A normal VVD would have no problem dealing with that.

Chelsea seems disjointed at present. Lets see how next week goes & what else they do in market.

I called it an acid test and I am pretty sure conte will see it like that. He brings up those three games against Chelsea as where we were when he took over... So this coming test will be a barometer of how far we have come etcm

I’m afraid I don’t think that at all. He freshened up the squad when it would have be easy to just keep the same title winning squad, it will keep them hungry and I think they are in for an equally good season as last year if not better.

We'll have to see! Freshening up is certainly good, I just don't think he's the right style of player ideally to slot in there.

He is going to score an absolute ton, he is exactly what they need and will likely become a better player playing in this league and with the players they have in that team. I think he is going to be frightening once he beds in and gets use to the league.

Agree he'll score loads. But like Ronaldo at United, that might not be to the benefit of the team

United and City are not remotely comparable, one are the current champions and the other a complete mess from top to bottom.

Not a surprise for anyone, but United seems to be out of the top six race before round 2???

Yeah, don’t think we’ll be worrying about United this season ??
2 / 38 = 5.26%

Last season, after 10 / 38 (26.35%), we had won 5 and lost 5 ... but 3 of the wins had been 1-0 in the first 3 matches, before the rot set in properly.

A lot of people were saying "don’t think we’ll be worrying about Spurs this season ??".

I voted 1st and gave my reasons, I still think that's possible but I'm persuaded to downgrade to 2nd.
Absolutely nothing to do with the Chelsea game, on the contrary, or City starting off so hot but because I'm now convinced Conte is in for the long haul and his philosophical attitude to the window saying you need more than one window to build your best side tells me he wants more.
That said I'm still cheering us on for the title this year not top four which is already set in stone.

I still think 3rd. I think we will push and be around the top 2 but ultimately be a few points here and there short of that level. City are a bit of a machine and with the addition of Haaland they've added the focal point that they have been missing. Liverpool could be vunerable if their injury problems continue but they are still so strong. You can see why we tried for Diaz.
