With younger players I see it as 50/50 when it comes to attitude, of course young players are going to be ecstatic they'll be playing in the PL so some might be a bit silly etc I see it as part of the coaches role and senior squad members to try and mature the player and settle him down, I can't imagine GDS had many people to talk to at Spurs, from Mexico, educated at Barca, he hardly had anyone to sympathize with him and Redknapp's traditional English views hardly clicked with GDS. If he was about 25+ then I would start to have issues with his attitude.
Harry rarely rotated the squad unless it was the Europa League where he played fringe players with reserve players which isn't going to motivate Barca graduates or PL stars like GDS and Pienaar at the time. Redknapp's system never suited GDS as he was a natural attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 and whenever Redknapp played such a system, he only did it to accommodate VDV. GDS wasn't Redknapp's signing, he was signed between Ramos and Comolli, both were gone within months of his arrival, really unnerving for a young player moving to a new country/ league.
I always thought he'd turn out good and I was gutted when we sold him, especially for such a low fee, I was really looking forward to what AVB could do with him but I am happy for him now and he's finally getting the playing time, results and attention his talent demands.
