So what happened to the supposed mass clear out of all the dead wood we have? there has got to be £10-£15M worth of it at the club.............
Are we set to sign the reported 6 or 7 players as reported by several people?
Where is all the ££££££££££ coming from if we dont clear out the Gardners and Bents of the club?
2 decent first team players signed if Santos does go through, what position will they play in next year?

Bent's a good player, and after shelling out £16m only a year ago, I think he'll be here next season.

There's still two months left, if we were to sell now, it would seem desperate, and we would probably get a better deal if we waited and encouraged a bidding war on some players.

if we got rid of all our players now, then everyone will know what we are looking for, and then bump up the price. Also if we dont think there is a good enough replacement , then a few will stay put until there is.

That doesn't really count for anything - Carsley has already joined Birmingham from Everton hasn't he?

In response to the initial post on this thread; anyone we sell is gonna need to be replaced to some extent and the club is run well enough to presume that we therefore aren't gonna sell many players of any worth to the team until we have already brought in their replacement, and there isn't likely to be any more transfer activity with European players until the Euros are finished cos they're all tied up with their national teams.

So calm down.

why would we get rid of Bent? Unless Berbs is staying we'll need him big-time next season

even if Berbs stays, unless we get a £14m+ offer in - why let him go (unless he wants out)

there was a lot of nonsense talked about how we're gonna rid of key people like Jenas.

We'll see some dpartures of course - but we need to keep the vast majority of our proven prem players - to help the new players adjust to what is the best league in the world, and a very tough physical one at that

we'll need a big and decent squad to do well in lge and cups.

That's harsh. We could get something back for all of those players except maybe Ghaly and Stalteri. Bent and Chimbonda would enter the first XI of most Premiership squads, or at least be on in the squad, and Kaboul and KPB are still really prospects for the future.

Funny, Lee and Stalteri were our FBs when we conceded just 38 goals in a season. Kaboul was (and probably is) regarded as potentially one of the best CBs in Europe. That's why we signed him, you know—the fact that he's acted like a total tit doesn't obviate that. Bent had an outstanding goalscoring record, and, given the seriously limited chances he's had, hasn't done too badly. Chimbonda was outstanding for the first half-two thirds of last season, quite as good as Hutton. Ghaly was totally frustrating, but had flashes of being a very good midfielder indeed when he cut out the Hollywood stuff. KPB—jury's out.

spot on

why o'why are people so desparate to sell off all our squad players. I don't disagree that we need to trim our squad down a little though

SELL

Stalteri ---back to bundesliga?
Gardener---WBA?
Tainio------Bolton,Blackburn?
chimbo------newcastle, villa?
Robbo???

LOAN

Taarabt----back to france, WBA?
Alnwick-----championship?
Dervitte----championship, french team?
Rose-----championship?

FIRST 22

GK-------new signing? + forecast
LB-------gilberto, ekotto?

RB-------hutton, gunter
DM-------zokora, new signing?

Correction, and not just correcting you DC, but the whole media who seem to try and big up the Premiership so much. The Premiership is NOT the best league in the world. It has possibly the best 3 clubs in the world at the moment, but the rest of the teams are of average quality when compared to the other clubs in the various leagues in Europe. UEFA CUp is a prime example. Thats why i say if you look at it as a whole, its diffciult to say that the Premiership is the best.
