I understand your point Stoof and god, we need some optimism as fans, but even you must admit mate, that the difference this year is we are making faaaaaar to many mistakes in defence and the heart just seems to have disappeared from the team.

It's an argument whether we're being punished for our mistakes more than we were last year?

We looked ropey at times then too, the only thing I can point to is Dawson and Kaboul having only played a handful of games with each other. I know it's not much to go on, and the excuse is starting to grate on many-a-fan but I honestly think it will come good. I think I have to believe that, don't I?

I'm upset that people were even contemplating relegation. Two wins and the right results elsewhere could see us move 8-9 places up the League. Everyone's is beating everyone, we're due a good run and I wouldn't be surprised if it started on Sunday after a rousing European routing of Getafe.

We can but dream, of course.

Daniel Levy doesn't pick the team, train the players, motivate them, guide them. I wouldn't neccesarily say he's a huge part.

But he does have a big say in who we buy. Levy thought Martin Petrov was too old and Jenas is a Levy buy.

We weren't going to sign Jenas until Sven told Levy too.

I dared to think the R word for the first time last night.

There have to be changes because this set-up just isn't working. I'm at a loss as to what can be done and I don't altogether blame MJ.

Our performance last night was not at all good, our passing was awful with a few exceptions. Even Malbranque, who has been looking good, couldn't get it together and Berbatov is a mere shadow of the man he was last season.

I feel for Defoe, who wasn't even on the bench and would like to see him given a real chance to perform.

And now Bale will be out through injury which is a rotten break as he is such a talent and we so need him in the team.

Not a happy time for Yiddos. But we have to keep hoping things will turn around and give the lads stronger support than ever.

The funny thing is though, if you spread the away games out over a season - as they were last season - we're actually two points better off!

We need a good dose of home games and a good run at home.

I'm not throwing in the towel for Jol just yet. We played so well at Liverpool, and United - and in patches against Villa.

We all know that our defence is shaky but we've just got to be patient! We have only had 4 home games - one of those against the club that leads the Premiership. A draw against Villa from our situation was no mean task, a demolition of Derby and a bit of mare against Everton.

But please - if we compare our fixtures to last year's we are only 1 point less from the corresponding fixtures! I know it maybe slightly blinkered, but surely there's hope to found in that. Surely?

[I know a lot of you get pissed off by my constant positive outlook - and I'm not suggesting all is rosy - but there are ways of looking at it that put us in a not such a dark light as is being painted]

I'm still trying to look at it this way. It is bizarre but you're right, we are only 1 point worse off than last season's corresponding fixtures if you swap Sunderland for Sheff Utd and Derby for Watford. I won't list them all here but I'm pretty sure that's right.

The demoralising thing is, every time you think we've turned a corner it doesn't quite work. To put it mildly!

That must have been the worst performance of the season last night, or at least equal to Everton.

We desperately need someone commanding in the middle either in defence or midfield but there's no way we can rely on King.

Although Blackburn looks incredibly tough, the run of fixtures coming afterwards is relatively good with much more likely chances to get a few wins and get a run going.

If King did come back I'd be extremely tempted to give Kaboul a go in Midfield. He'd probably create more than Jenas and Zokora, I think his passing looks fantastic. Him and Dawson looked fairly solid for the start last night and then capitulated.

Bale's injury is probably the worst thing of the whole night though. He's been a shining light along with Keane in recent games. It's crazy to be reliant on an 18 year old but he's already become that important!

Much as I want the big man to succeed. I'm beginning to get the first pangs of serious jitters.

On last night's performance. The team simply aren't playing for Jol anymore. I think the board have a very tough decision to make, much of their own making. I think once the dressing room is lost, there is no way back, regardless of how good you are as a manager.

I'm sadder and angrier today than after any result so far this season. It was the manner of the defeat rather than the result, to coin a pundit cliche. We were gutless, with no spirit, no drive, no cohesion, and not much clue.

As each league game goes by without a win, that win moves us less and less up the table. Before we know it, 3 points will only mean getting closer to whoever is in 17th. We can't let it get this far surely?

I'm absolutely gutted about it, as I have backed him as much as humanly possible, but I don't think he will be given time to turn it around. Surely the board will be extremely concerned with the seeming lack of spirit and fight.

the longer it goes on, the more painful it's going to be.

I love Jol. but this needs to happen. sooner rather than later.

Times are tough for us, but we still love Martin.

so, thursday night - sing your lungs out for the big man - AND our beloved team.

Martin, we have been together for a while now, but I feel that something has changed over the last little while.

Please don't blame yourself, it is my fault.... I am a Spurs fan and somewhere along the line got a bit above myself and started to expect things of you that were a little unreasonable. I am even embarased to say that I have had a sneaky peak at others whilst being with you. I hope that we can still be friends and I will always remember the good times that we had....sorry

Now where is that sarcasm mobile that Stoof was sportin a few days ago. Is it too late to tag on. How did we get this fickle?

Stoof - Ever the optimist mate, but reading your posts, even you sound like you're struggling to look on the bright side. I know I'm losing the battle!

i said that in the past .. we won't beat Middlebrough, Man City, West Ham twice again .. let alone likes ( Charlton turned to Birmingham, Sheff utd to Sunderland & Watford to Derby ) as we get 13 pts from possible 18 pts .. let alone better Wigan ( 4 pts last year ) .. and Worse Tottenam ( just 7 pts at our start ) ...

Right.

No pizza, only Khlav Khalash!

We've already beaten Middlesbrough once. Albeit a cup team. And we're Man City's bogey team. West Ham - well if you watched the Sunderland game and any other of their games they look even worse than us at the back. True story.

Wigan look poorer too. So as you appear to be basing this on pure fantasy, I disagree.

I ain't too bothered at the moment... I remember them dark days of the seventies.

The games were so bad they were actuallly laughable.
