I was asking myself this over the weekend and found it a tricky one to answer so I am going to ask you guys.

Over the last few years we have seen some of our best players leave the club, and was wondering which one has had the biggest adverse impact on us.

the players im talking about are Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, Dimitar Berbatov, Micheal Carrick.

In my opinion all of these player sales had a very damaging impact on our performances on the pitch and arguably none of them have been replaced, but if i had to name one of them id say Robbie Keane.

We really lack that bit of creativity around the box this season and even if he was having an off game he still ran his socks off trying to make things happen and still creating chances.

in order id say

1. Robbie keane
2. Micheal Carrick
3. Dimitar berbatov
4. Jermain Defoe

Definitely Carrick for me. Imagine Carrick holding and spreading the play for Lennon, Modric and Dos Santos to play to their strengths.

Berbatov, Keane and to a certain extent Steed are all difficult to replace but we have had, still have and will have good strikers again in the future. I just don't see where our next top quality holding player is going to come from.

in order I would say;
1. Michael Carrick - Just as our Midfield was starting to look good, it was ripped apart. Carrick has never been replaced (Huddlestone is good, but will never be the quality of Carrick). He was one of the most naturally gifted Midfielders we have had in a very long time and I was devastated when we let him go.

2.Dimitar Berbatov - Inexplicable is the word I would use to describe some of the hold up play that this man brought us. I have never seen anything like it, and I doubt I will ever again. We miss his ability to take a ball out of the air, control it, hold it until he had support and then lay it off sooooooo much you wouldn't believe.

3. Robbie Keane - In Berbatov, Robbie Keane found the strike partner he had longed for his entire career. I trully believe these two together were the best strike partnership in the league, and if they hadn't been split would have gone on to be the best partnership ever. Keanes' tireless running, clever movement and incredible vision fitted in with not only Berbatovs' game, but the style of Spurs tradition. If only carrick had been given a chance to play with this strikeforce!!

4. Defoe - 4th On the list, but only because of the quality within it. Defoe for me can be a lethal striker, as long as a) he is confident, and b) he has a strike partner whom he can play with. I hope that if we bring him back he can gel with Pav, because if he can, it could be a lethal combination. On his day, he is one of the best finishers in the league. I've lost count of the times I've drooled over that little turn of pace and rocket of a shot fired into the top corner. I hope this guy can come back and fulfil his chance of legendary status at the Lane.

ROBBIE KEANE
he was on fire when he played for us , berba would of been half the player he was for us if he had to play with bent every week !
as for carrick , i never rated him as a outstanding player when he was at spurs ... he often frustrated me as he was so soft on the ball , however he is 10 times the player at man utd , he obviously has better players around him and the added bonus of not having to carry jenas as well as himself!!!

Carrick just over Berba for me. Central midfield has been the problem area ever since he left. Hard to watch him play for Man Utd knowing that he could have actually stayed at Spurs.

Berbatov without doubt. He could play as a lone striker, a link man and as a pair. His arrogance and confidence is sorely missed.

Carrick is a class act and was not fully appreciated at Spurs, particularly by Mr Levy.

Keane is and always will be dispenable, for which ever club he plays for.

Berbatov for me, ultimately he was one of if not the best player I have ever seen in a SPurs shirt. He is one of the best in the world and any club would miss him.

Next on the list I would say Carrick, he was a good player for us both defensively and in attack linked the team together well and I feel would fit in perfectly with our current squad.

Keane and Defoe last of the list in equal amounts as both can score goals and we are lacking that currently but both the players I put ahead of them could benefit the other players in the team as well so for me are bigger losses.

Thats probably why he bought him!

Carrick is the player that we easily miss the most!

You think we miss steed over Berbatov and Keane?

Yes I do, the balance and work rate added by steed cannot be over estimated. Keano of course was an important member of the team for a long time, but effective left sided midfielders seem to be more difficult to source than strikers.

I didnt add Berbatov despite the fact he is a fantastic player had we kept Keane I think we would of been ok. keane had good partnerships with both Kanoute and Mido. He would of in my opinion done well with Pav as well.
