Judas was a special case but I honestly remember only feeling angry rather than heartbroken. I was instantly over him, whereas I'd still love to see some others return at some point, and I was delighted to see Berba back in a Spurs shirt for Ledley's testimonial.

In terms of 'breaking my heart' I'd probably have to say Keane leaving for Liverpool.

The fact that he had previously been a bit of a journeyman and seemed to have found his home at Spurs (in hindsight he definitely had) but was still tempted away by Liverpool, and the fact that it accompanied Berba leaving which we all accepted was inevitable, was really tough to take.

It was a bit "et tu Brute?" in the way he jumped ship. It destroyed his legacy and standing at Spurs and even though he came back, we never truly forgave him and he never looked the same player. I'd imagine it was like a couple giving it a second go after an affair - there was plenty of affection and it made sense but there was no real spark any more. Somehow his return was different from Defoe's (probably because Defoe's sale was instigated by the club, unlike Keane's move to Liverpool). Defoe's 2nd spell felt like a homecoming. Keane was coming back after a few nights sleeping in the back of his car and with nowhere else to go.

As you can tell, the whole episode still fills me with remorse. Dozens of great memories of one player tainted for the sake of 6 months with Liverpool. What a slut.

Loved Modric as a player but the club couldn't match his (justified) ambitions, Bale was always open about his dreams of playing abroad, and we were lucky to get some of VdV's best years. But in Keane's case, we were the best he'd ever had and he still fucked us over.

Sheringham (just got a replica top with his name and number on - never done again since lol) called the S word for years lol.

Haha I did the same, 9/10 years old at the time and the first time I had ever got a name on the back of my shirt. Wore it every day to school for a week and then iirc we sold Sheringham at the weekend, on the Monday I got a severe amount of stick asking where my shirt was and why I wasn't wearing it.

Same as you, decided there and then I was never getting a name on a shirt ever again.

Hoddle for me. Felt like I'd lost family. He was Spurs.

Gazza going was terrible because he was a genius and an entertainer.

Most recently I hated Berba going. The guy was magic.

Love Bale but now I've got used to losing our best players so doesn't hurt as much. A sign of the times. It's great to hear his comments today. Kinda feel proud of him.

I agree about Greavsie, although it's true he was past his very best.
For me, it was big Pat (Jennings). He never wanted to leave but was told he could go. The Gooners snapped him up for a bargain and he was outstanding for them for many a year. God, this club has really fucked up some times!

Modric did the most damage to the side in recent memory. We still havent recovered from that. Such a special player.

Gazza won us the fa cup, got injured and then sold .... Couldn't get my head around that plus we lost lineker.

Campbell (simply would of been a club ledge if he went anywhere bar the goons)

Bale hurt, I'll never begrudge a player moving to a bigger team, but the way Madrid acted to get him wound me up the most.

When he scored in the cl final I did cheer, also seeing modric and bale play on Tuesday made me feel proud that we helped their devolpment.

The first was Greavsie - broke my young heart, there have been many others since, but the one that still makes me sad is VdV.

Robbie Keane to the Bindippers broke my son's heart, he was devastated. I found it hard to cheer him on when he came back.

Two for me, Lineker when I was a kid.
More recently Bale, best player I have ever seen at the club, felt as if we could turn just about any team over with him in the side, we have been absolute dog #### since he left.

Hoping Cain Hoy buy us and their first major signing is bringing Bale home, complete fantasy I know.

Berbatov.

I was young and he was my favorite player, I didn't think he would ever leave and I thought the talk of him refusing to play was lies.
