As usual at this time of year lots of threads and posts on who we should buy but the Transfer Window has another equally important side. So who does SC not want to see in the squad next season ?

I think the only obvious candidate is Fazio. To him I will add the following:

Carroll - has finally had his chance this season and proved he is, as many suspected, too lightweight
Yedlin - by all accounts has got better at Sunderland but can't see him displacing Trippier and we have KWP coming through
Vorm - I just don't have any confidence in him and I think Hugo needs real competition to stay at the top of his game, I'd like to see us sign a young GK that could begin to press Hugo
Chadli - bound to be controversial given his form in 14/15 but notwithstanding his goals I just don't think his languid style suits our high energy pressing game and he will likely still achieve a good fee
Mason - I really like him but I think he would be better off getting regular football at another team and allowing us to buy another MF who can offer real competition to Dembele

Other candidates that have been talked about such as Son, Njie, Bentaleb and Pritchard I wouldn't want to sell.

I agree that Fazio is a given. With Wimmer performing well and Dier to step back if required I feel he simply does not have a place.

I really like Chadli. He has a very good goals and assist record. In some games we don't need the high work rate and need players who actually score and are effective. That being said Chadli is likely to be at a stage where he wants regular football and he is being pushed back in the pecking order so might be time to go.

Carroll is 24 and Mason will be 25 in a couple of weeks and mihgt be time for them to go.

Always happy to give players time to settle in so hoping we keep Son and N'jie some more time.

As above really,

Fazio
Yedlin
Carroll
Mason/Chadli if we upgrade

Agreed about keeping Son and N'jie. Would also like Pritchard to get a chance.

Fazio
Chadli
Vorm
Davies
Carroll and, or mason. Could bring in 30 - 35m.

Should go this window.

Wouldnt be distrauhgt if yedlin, bentaleb, njie went but not worried if they stay either.

Son defo needs one more season at least and pritchard i hope gets a chance

Fazio, Yedlin, Carroll and Chadli should be sold. The first two being a waste of money for us to keep on the books, the second two are quite frankly not good enough to play for a team with our ambition.

There's all the obvious candidates, but I feel a dark horse could be Vertonghen if someone steps in with a big bid.

I'd feel completely comfortable going with Wimmer + Alderweireld next season while bringing in another LCB like Umtiti.

This has probably been done to death in another thread...

Anyway, I'd expect Yedlin, Chadli, Fazio and Carroll to be gone. I also think Mason is right on the border line, him leaving might be dependent on what sort of loans we can secure for Winks and/or Onomah. Vorm can leave if he wants but we'll need a good replacement.

Agree with what you've said about Chadli. Not everything in football is work rate.

Fazio
Carroll (like the kid but I really don't think he's quite got what it takes and we are stocked in his position)
Chadli (has ability and produces - but is mentally and physically lazy without the ball - not right for us)
Yedlin & Trippier (move KWP to back up).

If it was down to me, as harsh as it seems, if I knew we were getting someone like Embolo and could get one real quality AM like Fekir or Drexler I'd happily offload Son and Njie (as well as the already mentioned Chadli), but I doubt we can sign those players, so accept Son and Njie will get another season, just can't see them adding much and would rather see Pritchard moved up the order to be honest.

depends on who we get. assuming we bring in like replacements:

Carroll
Mason
Chadli (always defended him but a bit slow)

Fazio and Yedlin no matter what happens

If a quality young keeper is available, it might not be a bad idea to upgrade on Vorm with a view to having that replacement step in for Hugo in 3/4 years and obviously gain experience in cups/due to injury.

we might have that in McGee, I can't really comment to much as I've not seen him play. hopefully we will get a chance one day

People are deluded if they think a better keeper than Vorm will be willing to sit on our bench.

Vorm is one of the best back up keepers in the division for our style of play(he actually has better distribution than Lloris). Considering other teams have liabilities such as Cabellero, Romero and Ospina I think we should be grateful that we have a capable back up, who is actually proven in the division as a first choice for another team.

Vorm is edging the end of his career, and probably for the rest of his career only have the possibility for one move left for a handsome sign on fee, and no doubt his agents will want to try to orchestrate that last move. I suppose he has 2 years left of his contract, a prime opportunity to sell, and as back up at Spurs he plays so little that it doesn't really matter for the club if another goalie hardly plays instead of him. He's seen limited play time, limited success, and it's time to plan for an extra lump sum of money to go towards retirement down the line. In short, Vorm is a prime candidate for a transfer this summer.

Anyone you'd feel uncomfortable about starting in the Champions League or Premier League, basically. Mason, Chadli and Fazio are good players but aren't up to par and will be replaced by the incoming forward, midfielder and center back. They're the priorities. Vorm is a decent backup goalkeeper. He could be improved upon in future but we have other areas to focus on first. Carroll could be useful in the cups, but he needs to decide if he's happy with that. If he wants to leave, let him.
