I don't know how to do a poll.
Both players are rumoured to be interesting other clubs:
Bale - Man U, Barcelona and RMadrid
Modric - Man U, Chelsea, RMadrid
Both are our prized assets!
DL stood his ground last season in regards to Modric, i don't know if he will be able to do that again - i sure hope so.

Some suggested that current players like Hudd, Parker or VDV can perform the role of Modric
Or buy players like Dembele or Cabaye

Replacement for Bale - Johnson

I am not in any way suggesting that one or both will be sold - but seeing your opinion IF one or both were to be sold.
Apology IF a similar thread has been posted before

Bale for me too. Modric can keep us ticking when he's playing well, but Bale has the ability to change a game completely on his own.

To be honest, I don't think many players can do Modric's job, certainly not really anyone currently at the club anyway but there are probably various players who could do a similar job.

Other than Ronaldo I don't know anyone who can do what Bale can do to be honest.

I'm no statto but it would be interesting to see games won vs lost with each out of the team. It#s depressing that we have to have this debate. I hate Man City and those Chavvy facks, they really have ruined football with the wages they pay. Infact I do the clubs a disservice its the slimy Russian and the Arab I hate.

Perhaps not like for like but both are replaceable, neither are on that level.

Modric now.

However, with some adjustments to his game (probably under a better coach), Bale could become one of the best players in the world imo.

Bale may well have the ability to change a game, but he blows hot and cold. Down the flank he is almost unplayable at times but I honestly think the hype has expanded his ego so much and now he roams infield etc and gets lost.

Too many people focus on his speed and his goals, whereas not enough people appreciate the fact that Modric can literally pull the strings from midfield for an entire 90 minutes. Ok, he doesn't score goals, but what he does do is worth so much more IMO. His vision and off the ball play is almost unequalled in the game.

Of course I don't want to lose either, although I actually suspect we might lose both. But for me Bale is replaceable, there are other players who bring the goals from the side. Modric on the other hand?? For me he is completely irreplaceable. Sure there are other players that are very good in that position, players who excel at certain parts of Modric's game, but players who have the whole caboodle like Modric are close to impossible to find.

So for me the I would choose the ability to control a game for its entire duration rather than the ability to have game changing moments.....especially if those moments don't come often enough.

Luka is the type of player that always seems to have time on the ball and can see a pass where most other players can't. For me that makes him pretty irreplaceable.

Yea maybe, I certainly see your points. Even so, Modric this season blew quite hot and cold too. I do understand that sometimes his ability to keep us ticking goes unnoticed mind, but suprisingly various times I'd felt he'd hidden away a bit, especially away from home where I don't think he has near the influence as he does at WHL, for whatever reason that may be.

I don't know though, maybe I'm not decided on the matter as much as I thought but either way, like you said it does appear that Bale's ego has grown which doesn't help in a lot of cases, but something still seemed off with Modric too for parts of this season just gone IMO.

Oh I absolutely agree. I suppose my initial post was based on sheer talent and ability, but there is no doubt Modric has missed the bus for a few games this season. Unfortunately I think that is down to one thing and one thing only......which is why I would grab £40m if we were offered it now.

If I look back over the season, though, I definitely remember shouting "FFS Bale!!" an awful lot more than "FFS Luka!" Strangely I think Bale is quite often guilty of the very things that we constantly criticised Taraabt for when he was with us.

Easy!

There are lots of other small, skillful midfielders in the world but there isn't another 6ft+, sprint champion, long distance god, dribbling machine, goalscoring, sniper crosser like Bale.

Yea I felt that a lot really, that he was playing as if his head wasn't really in it. There was never that desire to want the ball at every opportunity from him, I mean he just didn't seem to search for the ball and really dictate play as much as he could have I felt.

I agree on Bale too, although I do think Bale's game naturally has more risk to it in terms of keeping possession (or I guess that you could argue that Modric sees the ball twice as much as him and still doesn't make as many errors, I dunno...) but like you'd previously said, it's his sudden enlarged ego. It has gotten us a few goals mind, him thinking he's Superman but he just hasn't got the balance of his play right yet.

Unbelievably simplistic. Modric is not just a small, skillful midfielder. He is a far rarer player than Bale.
