Just found out I was successful in the latest sales phase and have now got my hands on two TST-6 tickets to follow England all the way to the Semi-Final.

Fortunately I have relatives who live just outside Johannesurg, so I've got a free base for the month, but I've now got to organise flights and a few overnight stays, quite expensive by the looks of it. I think the credit card is going to get a bit of a hammering and I'll be paying it off for about the next 10 years.

Just wondering whether anybody else has managed to get tickets? If so has anybody found any cheap(ish) flights or accommodation near England's group games?

Yep, I'm going. Will be at all the group games.

I got direct flights on virgin to Joburg with Thomas Cook sport. When I was looking two weeks ago, the cheapest flights were £1,500, with Thomas Cook sport they were £1,000. Still a horrible price.

I've got six days booked in Capetown about 5 minutes away from the stadium. Costing £85 per person per night at sunflower hostel, which is a rip off but it's in a decent area of town and it is a private room. Booked it up via hostelworld.

I've also booked up four nights in Port Elizabeth for £45 per person per night at Park Lane backpacker. I liked the name, though not sure that my hammer mate will be as happy.

Haven't booked up anything for Rustenburg yet, or the internal flights yet but have been looking.

Let me know if you need any advice etc

I managed to book flights direct with BA last night for £1066, seemed about £200 cheaper than any others I could find, suprised that BA were the cheapest and this morning the same flight is even £4 cheaper, they must be struggling to get passengers. I did find flights via Lagos for about £800, but I didn't fancy stopping off in Nigeria and there was a 19 hour stop over.

I'm planning on hiring a car as it will probably be cheaper than internal flights and gives us a bit more freedom in where we can stay, we won't have to be right in the city centre paying through the nose for a bed.

I've had a look at accommodation and there seems to be plenty around Cape Town, but Rustenberg seems to be fully booked already and Port Elizabeth has got very little remaining. I've booked a B&B just outside Port Elizabeth for 2 nights at 500 ZAR (about £45) a night. We might have to buy a tent when over there and do a bit of camping up in Rustenburg!

I'm kind of hoping we come second in our group as it means a lot less driving otherwise I might regret the car option, but we've got at least 4 days between each game.

Yeah, Rustenburg accommodation seems to be problematic, though from what I have read Rustenburg is a bit dodgy, seemingly only a couple of bars which are in the dodgiest part of town.

A lot of people are staying in Joburg and getting the bus there, haven't yet decided what we are going to do. Looked at staying at Sun City, but all the hotels are already fully booked.

I've noticed on sites like booking.com there are hotels/b&b's claiming only 1 room remaining, I booked one in Stellenbosch, for the Cape Town match, and the next day the same place was back up with only 1 room remaining. It seems that 90% of listings only have 1 room remaining, so I think they are being a bit clever with there advertising.

When I tried to get tickets in October - the England ones had sold out for that stage. So I got tickets to watch the Ivory Coast Group games rather than risk not getting any.

But assuming England win our Group - I got tickets for the last 16 match. Last night I booked a dorm bed in Hodge Podge hostel (~£10).

I think I'll be based around Jberg from 20th June to 7th July. If anyone is up for splitting the cost of hiring a car let me know.

Nice work! Are you working out there or playing?

Sadly working as people who can't play write about playing.

Was briefly there last year with my family as I was working on the Confederations Cup.

My brother had the option to go for free with the BBC.

He's chosen not to.

He's not particularly into football, though he's covered the last 3 world cups. He enjoyed Korea / Japan and particularly Germany, but didn't really fancy South Africa. I've not pressed him too much as to the reason why. His fiancee, who also works at the beeb, might have had something to do.with it.

Does anybody know whether there are any more Final tickets to go on sale? This is the only ticket I'm short of and I don't know what's going to be the cheapest way to get hold of one, all the 'official outlets' are only selling them as part of a package.

If so they go on sale on Tuesday - you might still be able to buy one?! I know they were still available during the last lottery phase.

I would have sold you my final tickets had I been allocated them, as have to come back to England after the group games.

Unfortunately, was unsuccessful in my application though.

The additional phase that went on sale today will not include final tickets. Best bet would be to ask around when you are there.
