We dont play untill next weekend, and then its against Colchester. I would hope we would play a few of the frist team squad with a mixture of youths in that game.

Its a week on Tuesday until we play our next PL game, so a few days in Barcelona (what is it? a 2-3hr flight from London?) wont do any harm. Will be a good break for them IMO

Yeah, I have to come clean on the incoherence of my original post - when I first saw they were in Barcelona, I thought, aren't we playing Norwich on Tuesday? Then I fired off the post to that effect. A few minutes later I thought, hang on, that's next week. So I quickly edited it to not look more a fool than I already did :) Have a good time in Barca!

Is Barcelona at high altitude?

There's your answer...

(y)

Most likely just a change of scenery. Looked like Espanyol's old stadium they were in, Poch has probably still got a set of keys.

Do you mean the one that was used for the 1992 Olympics?

Is there any evidence that this trip was planned prior to the weekend? As I'm becoming convinced this trip was only decided on Saturday or Sunday, when it became apparent that Verts needs ACL surgery (if that is indeed the case, which I'm just guessing at the moment) - as Barcelona seems to be where the top ACL guy is - it's where Sandro went for his.

To be fair it will be nice for Vertonghen having the entire squad there when he wakes up from his op.

Somehow I very much doubt Jan suffers with some weird detachment disorder and the only way he can go and have his op is if he's bffs go with him

The fact he is prancing about on crutches and the club are ok with this confirms to me he isn't about to have his feckin leg off :dead:

Maybe they've gone to Barcelona to have one last party with Jans leg before they amputate :(

Doubt the club would be able to hire the old Olympic Stadium they have been training at in Barcelona in such short notice. Planning a trip like this is done well in advance. It makes a lot of sense that this would have been planned for quite some time, it's Poch's old stomping ground he knows the area well from his Espanyol days so it's definitely no coincidence the club chose Barcelona. It won't have anything to do with Jan.

Plus it makes no sense at all that the club would all go with him for an op in Barcelona for moral support. He's a grown man I'm sure he could manage. :ROFLMAO:

Nope it's all boarded up our lads blatantly hopped the wall (like we used to as kids in tottenham lido)
To have one last kick about with poor old Jan before his lobotomy

Love all the people suggesting warm weather training - it was 1° hotter in Barcelona than in London today.
As measured in the shadow (and the real difference is more 4 degrees). In London of course there is only shadow these days. All day. In Barcelona one may actually see the sun, adding a sense of warmth.
Since this is such a know-it-all-thread.

It's pretty funny to compare the way clubs arrange these team-building trips.

Leicester dressed up like superheroes and went on an absolute bender in Copenhagen. Spurs go to Barcelona and continue to train.

Only it's about a 6 hour drive. It's like you telling people you live in Stockholm Sweden instead of Oslo Norway. Or for our English friends a London to Glasgow distance.
