The last paragraph of the statement makes it fairly clear he's doing it now because the players have come to him and asked to leave. Before it meant nothing, but when the players are unsettled, it means their form for us is going to be affected, as is team spirit, having players that don't want to play for you effectivly gives no option but to sell

To be quite honest I had been resigned to the fact that we would be losing Berbatov from the end of last season. Where I am struggling is that Keane is leaving at the same time as well. It was our offensive play that won us the CC and kept us in the EPL, so now to lose 3 out of 4 our strike force in a matter of months, I wonder where we go from here.

I agree 100% about your evaluation of Keane as I did share those sentiments, the problem IMO is them being allowed to leave at the same time.

Well, I think there are general sentiments that it will be difficult for Keane to repeat his goalscoring performances for Spurs without Berbs. It is hardly coincidental that Berbs high number of assists coincides with Keane highest scoring total for past few seasons. Without a player like Berbs beside him, I think Keane will be much less effective for us next season.

Given that reason, add to the fact that he wants to leave, and lastly, understand that the price we will get now is likely the highest we can possibly get given Keane's age and a recently signed deal, works out to Levy wanting to make this deal happen. I believe Levy would have consulted with Ramos first and as seen from Ramo's press conference, he has indicated confidence that we can move on even if both of them leave so he must have told Levy that as long as he gets Ramos the targeted players then we can be just as effective without Keane and Berbs next season.

Ramos is the central figure for Spurs now and not any 1 player. If we can get the right players to play in his system with his tactics, then I believe we can survive Keane and Berbs departure and probably surprise some people who may write us off with their departures.

As Levy has stated that both want to leave, what's going to happen if either Man Utd of Liverpool don't pay what we're after. What would our reaction be to them if they ended up staying?. I for one want them both gone asap.

He didn't react,as we all know that the Scousers are skint. They can't raise 18p let alone £18m, so Levy thought it was tongue in cheek!!. Good luck to Keane, he'll finish maybe 4th instead of 5th, he'll get probably 10 - 15 starts instead of 40. He'll pick up £70k instead of £60k. He'll be off loaded in 2 years to Hull City for nothing and a massive wage reduction, instead of enjoying another 4 years at WHL where he is adored by most.

"adored" ? not by me.

the reason levy is pissed is because UTD and liverpool enquired about the players early on and were told in no uncertain terms that THEY ARE NOT FOR SALE and NOT TO PURSUE the matter further. of course they did not listen and have continued to talk about our players in the press and allegedly spoke to their agents, hence keane and berba telling the club they wish to leave.

now levy has come out now because of fergusons comments yesterday that they had put a bid in and was confident of it going through despite being told he is not for sale and not to pursue the matter.

If you woke up yesterday and found out that bids was accepted for keane and berba and were having medicals, 90% of the people would be on the clubs back thinking why the hell did we sell, so levy has had to come out and tell us the truth, it hurts but we will move on.

Ferguson is a cleaver fuck. Its not the first or will it be the last time Ferguson makes damning comments just before he leave the country, he couldn't have timed it better.

Ronaldo has learned from the best and started to make a stink out of the country.

We all have to face fact...Football dealings nowadays is pure gutter.

Look what we did to Sevilla with Ramos.

£50 million roughly for both... can easily get some quality replacements. And hopefully more loyal players too

if you want loyal - go and get a dog!!!!

Levy is acting the same as a politician and no-one can see it - it is all spin to hopefully appease the fans that he is selling our forward line purely for profit

Nowhere is real evidence that Keane or Berbs have said they want to leave now - yeah, there is media talk but I would not trust them to give me directions to their house let alone to tell the truth over something like this

if it is all true then so be it, but I strongly have my doubts. Yes, we know Berbs wants CL football - but many very knowledgable people expected him to give it until Xmas - and if we were not up there in the mix of things in at least the Top 6 he would be off.

Levy is using the 'tapping up' situation as a smokescreen - and it seems a lot of Spurs fans are buying it, saying what a great Chairman he is. I will tell you now that he is lying to make himself look good - the same as he lied over tapping up Ramos, and he did that on the Spurs website in a message to the fans too - he sees the site as his little PR tool, and will use it to fool the fans into thinking what the hell he likes.

So yes, he is good at one thing.....

...pulling wool over the eyes of the fans

Really CockneySpur,

The bottom line is this, Levy is acting in the best interest of himself and the club. If he wants to make serious money the best way to do it is to get the club into the top four because the value of the club will double from £250M to £500M overnight.

Levy has a track record of investing every single penny back into the club most of it going back into playing staff. If we can get the thick end of £50M for two players and replace them with younger better players that's got to be good business.
