I was born and breed in Malaysia. Spurs is never a household name back here. Despite that, i simply loved Spurs and the way they play football since 1986 when i was only 8 years old. Never have i got any apparent reason for choosing the Lilywhites. For your info, we don't even get to watch Spurs playing regularly back then. But if there is, i'll be right there infront of tele. Till today, i can safely declare myself as one of the very few die hard fans from Malaysia. No one in the family supported Spurs unlike many here. But for me, i'm more than glad to keep our beloved Spurs flag flying proudly here. Til I die, One n Only SPURS...

* Hoping to watch Spurs to play in Malaysia or Singapore one day even if its just a pre season match.

Been supporting spurs since 1986. Had to choose a team once and for all after the World Cup. All my mates were Liverpool fans and I really wanted to like them but just couldn't, then they sold Ian Rush and that was it for me cause I only knew him and bizzarely that aussie Craig Johnston, plus and importantly I didn't like their kit.

There were a few factors in my choice of Tottenham.
1. Glen Hoddle. I flipping loved him. He was tremendous and every time I watched him I wanted to be him. Only player better in my tiny mind was Norman Whiteside (you have to remember where I'm from, We're proud of our we country).
2. Chris Waddle, he was dazzling and he had long hair to boot which for me was essential to coolness.
3. Saint and Greavsie. Jimmy was always going on about how we were challengers and not to rule out spurs while saint would just roll his eyes and chuckle.
4. Clive Allen. He scored for fun that season and was an easy name to remember.
5. We were often on tv in the mid 80's so we were a highly visible side who were easy to follow
6. I lived across the road from Blanchflower Park in East Belfast which is the official home of the Nothern Irish U15, U17, U18 and until recently the U21's. One day I asked my dad (who wasn't a football fan at all) who Blanchflower was and he told me Billy Blanchflower who played for Tottenham in the 60's. I soon found out it was danny blanchflower but it didn't matter, by now the planets had alligned to such an extent that I was destined to become a spurs fan.
7. Mexico 86 pannini sticker album. The back of the sticker had a little fact file on the players, International Caps, Age and club side. I got a packet with Steve Hodge, Chris Waddle and Glen Hoddle in it and took it as another sign. All these spurs playing for england means all spurs players must be good I thought, so their team must be brilliant.
8. And Finally.........Neil Ogle. You may not know who he is and I'm not surprised but in Miss Hollands P5 class he proudly put on his Tottenham top in a sea of Liverpool and Glasgow Rangers tops. It was the one with Holsten on it made by hummel. I just stared at it. It was brilliant, much nicer than the liverpool tops my mates had and so I was hooked.

In my first season as a supporter we finished 3rd in the league, runners up in the cup and beat arsenal in a televised match. I ws properly hooked. I managed to stick with them when we suddenly got really crap, dealt with Hoddle, Waddle and Allen all leaving around the same time (little did I know that this would become the norm), Revelled in the mad brilliance that was Gazza and the ruthlessness of Lineker and got to celebrate like mad on a Sunday School outing to Larne cause we won the Cup in 91.

Thats my wee story, all true and all wonderful. I Love my Spurs.

I'm a forces kid so I never had a local team so to speak. When I was at school in the 80's it was all about Liverpool as you'd expect. But one player always caught my eye... mr Hoddle, followed shortly by messers Waddle, Gascoigne and Lineker. I also admired players such as Mabbut, Howells and Paul Allen.

My dad supported Leeds, alot of my family are geordie's. The only club I have a family link to that I actually follow is my Grandads home town of S****horpe United (breeding grounds of the likes of Keegan, Clemence and Burkinshaw).

Plus Spurs just always seemed so much cooler than most of the playground kids glory hunting of Liverpool, Man Utd, Everton etc etc.

Even through the barren 90's years I never regret my choice, a trip to WHL was like a trip to Disneyland for me, I've every shirt since '91, and now I reside in London I can't wait to get to some CL games!

I have been supporting spurs for over 40 years - starting at about 10 in rural Australia watching ABC TV AT 6pm Monday nights a weekly highlights show. My favourite players then were Pat Jennings & Glen Hoddle.

But also my dad is a poultry farmer and I just loved the logo and the 'silly' team name of Hot Spurs. Why was the word 'Hot' added? As a kid all this appealed to me. In Australia every sporting team has a name but it is rare in the EPL.

It was only 2 years ago that I was lucky enough to visit WHL for the first time to see them play - a FA cup game v Wigan. I have 3 daughters and after that magic night they are Spurs fans for life.

I was an Arsenal fan until the age of 15, then thought, ah, you know what, being successful, consistent and easy on the eye is overrated. I would much rather go grey by the age of 25, have an annual heart attack and cry more times than I even dare think about....you know what, I'll support Spurs...never looked back

when i was 4 we went to butlins and my dad was buying me and my wee bro a hat each. my brother got a coventry city one because it had an elephant on it and i got a spurs one because it had a chicken on it and my gran kept chickens. i didn't realize until i was about 10 that my dad always supported spurs and had, ahem, guided me towards my choice. will be eternally grateful to the old fella though!! any club that had peter cook as a fan is the one for me!!!

Im a Yank that lived in the UK from age 12 to 17. I picked Spurs because I liked the name, I think, and I lived in Surrey so a London club was a natural choice for me. This was from '78-'83, and coincided with Hoddle and some great teams. What's interesting to me is how strong those affiliations from childhood are. Ive been to the UK once in 25 years since leaving, and didnt have access to the games until about 2005, but I follow Spurs as closely as University of Texas football (my college alma mater), and the highs and lows are just as intense for me.
