So who, apart from Harry Kane, would you say is a Sherwood player who is benefitting us today?

I don't despise the bloke but just think he thought he was Billy Big Bollocks (saying he wanted to be in charge of the whole chebang) when he should have stayed doing what he was good at, i.e. development coach. Some of his team selections and tactics were shocking.

Think @Lilbaz has answered your question.

I think a lot of people would say that we need a bit more quality in back up areas. The players mentioned have largely populated the bench or not played at all. If we'd have had some injury problems in key areas I think we would have struggled. The one player who has stepped up and done a fantastic job is Wimmer. I don't see a great deal of Sherwood influence on where we are at the moment tbh. Last season his players played a much bigger part and we got to the EL but this year the players bought have propelled us to the verge of Champions League. I'm not knocking the players or Sherwood for that matter and I hope they progress, however I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of them move on in the summer as Townsend has already.

Tim is being a bit delusional in asserting that:

"I gave a lot of those players their debuts so he has been able to see them first hand in the Premier League, and see that they can do the job."

In fact of the current first XI only Kane benefitted significnatly form Tim's stint as manager, and of the remainder of the squad only Bentaleb, who has been a bit part player this season. Rose had already had a season to showcase himself at Sunderland (as well as oportunities under both Redknapp and Villas-Boas), and did not enhance his reputation under Tim (the after effects of injury, rather than Tim's fault, but even so). Mason and Carroll were both out on loan during Tim's stint at the helm; it is not unreasonable to think that he would have called on them had they been available, but they weren't. He gave debuts to Pritchard and Veljkovic but neither has played a part in the story this season.

But it would be mean spirited not to give Tim credit for his contribution as technical co-ordinator. Part of the reason so many of these lads have thrived under Pochettino is that they were pre-adapted to his needs, tactically, technically, and, above all, mentally. There is a desire and self-belief about this bunch that reminds me of Tim himself in his playing days. Not just those still at the club, but also those that have gone on to forge careers elsewhere: Townsend, Smith, Stewart, Caulker, Livermore, Button, Archer, Fredericks, Luongo, Byrne, Vigoroux, Butcher et al. They have all had their share of knockbacks but have demonstrated great bouncebackability. I can't think when we have produced a generation of players who have gone so far towards fulfilling their potential.

I am glad we got Pochettino, who has largely answered all the questions I had about him, but if it had come down to a choice of Van Gaal or Sherwood, I would have gone with Tim every day of the week.

So what, I was really impressed at the way he spoke about Spurs on the T.V. last night....he's a real fan of the club I think.
This
I was one of the "don't like Tim" bunch. More because I didn't feel he was the one to take us forwards and do something different to AVB, although we played far more entertaining football under him.

I really liked the twinkle he had in his eye when speaking about us. Respect.

This article is exactly one of the reasons Im a big fan of Tims. All his strong views and comments make sound footballing and commercial sense. See his comments on Kane. People like Tim need to be given more time as managers.

Also check this one out - great article and good insight.

I think he'll feel fairly vindicated, particularly given the spectacular fall from grace that Villa have suffered since his departure. Would they have been relegated had he remained in charge? Quite possibly, but what he would have offered would have been continuity and the ability to rebuild a squad using its resources.

It's a shame it didn't work out for him at Spurs, but the players had it in for him though some of them have since moved on.

Mason's one league goal this season secured us a win. We'd be 9 points adrift without it.

That's why every man and every goal matters.

Possibly, possibly not. Whoever he replaced might have scored 2. All I've said is that the players Sherwood brought through have not been as instrumental in our success this season as the ones we bought (Toby, Wimmer, Dier, Lamela, Alli and Son to a lesser degree). I'm fine with accepting that the season before 'Tim's' players played a big part, but this year it's only really Kane that has had very much influence and I think that moving forward, a fair few of them won't make the grade. I'm not knocking anyone, it's just the way it is.
