yep chalk up another crap performance and another 2 points dropped from a leading position, what a surprise

have to say, it is starting to annoy me Ramos playing so many players out of position and today it cost us, a proper defender wouldn't have allowed Heskey to get the shot off as the commentator said, wasn't the best of control from him but Zokora wasn't close enough to take advantage of it, don't blame him though, should have been Kaboul playing

Can't wait till next season, this season, with the exception of the cup run and victory has been truly awfull.

1. I hate 'homer' refs. How can every decision go there way, and then only be 2 minutes stoppage time, when there have been 4 subs (At 30 seconds each as the rule), and 2 lengthy injuries to Bent and Heskey.

2. Why do we insistently play the long ball all the time (Zokora, Dawson, and Cerny the main culprits) and then to the smallest players on the pitch Lennon and Keane.

3. Why can we play them off the park 1 minute, and then go to utter shit the next and not keep the ball. Its happen so many times lately ie Newcastle second half, Birmingham second half, and Boro.

4. Nothing Ramos can do, I know, but. We have to many average players, that if we want to challenge the top 4 we have to replace. Squad players at least, but Huddlestone, Jenas, Dawson, O'Hara, Malbranque and Zokora should not be starters if we wanto fulfill our goal. Hopefully Ramos sees this and will address this come the start of next season.

That was a shit result on the surface of it, but the team don't seem to care anyway, and let's be honest, it doesn't matter, we're playing for pride, and Ramos doesn't seem too bothered if we win or lose these games.

positives:
- Lennon was good, had a few moments reminiscent of his first season, really exciting.
- Huddlestone's passing, his pass completion isn't high, but some of his passing is in a different league, and when we're playing shit like that we need a moment of magic.
- Jenas' forward runs, got forward as much as possible.
- Only conceded 1, even with a Makeshift back four

Negatives:
- Keane and Berbatov look disinterested, don't stretch the play enough
- O'Hara out of position
- Malbranque was a bit lost, trying to cover in the middle, help O'Hara out and get forward (not really his fault)

Next game I want to see a five man midfield with Bent up top, Hudd, Jenas and Zokora in the middle, Malbranque and Lennon on the wings. Back four is anyone's guess for any game.

I assume the players are only getting payed half their wages now because they're only trying for 45 minutes.

And maybe Keane getting the full game once in a while would be good.

Ah stop moaning the lot of ya!
What did you all SERIOUSLY expect?? Wigan are fighting for their Prem league status and we have nithing really to play for (yes pride, yes league position and money blah blah).

I did nt think it was a terrible performance. We should however have been 2 or 3 up in first 10 mins. Keane wasted a god chance early on and in second half JJ should have done better with his chance. Steed was awful again, just hopeless. Apart from him , like i say i was nt too dissapointed.

Now i have made it clear on here loads that Lennon has been **** this season and also gone so far as to say we would nt mis him but he looked like getting back to the 'Young' 'Promising' Aaron Lennon today. Taking people on and even putting in a decent cross or two. I know ill get 'But its only against Wigan' from some SC'ers but its a start. He worked hard and looked our biggest threat.

All looked ok ish until Keane was taken off, replaced by Bent. Then all we wanted to do was lump long balls over the top, however we have nt got the players to hit those long balls.

Also i am pretty sure i predicted 1-1 with Heskey scoring last too

he probably was the biggest threat in the last game too, until Ramos moved him to the left

Well WHU are out of touch now realistically. And Newcastle are hunting us down. We need to take six out of nine points to stay where we are.

As I said before the game Keane needed resting - Berbs was by far the better of the two strikers on view -

overall a draw the fair result but if the ref had done his job properly that was a certain pen and probably would have won it for us

as I keep saying a CB is one of our priority signings this summer along with an LB

didn't think either of them had a great day to be honest, Berbs got the break with that deflected cross is all, but in no way far better

just asked my old man and bro who were watching the game with me to see what they thought and they thought a similar thing

well it's all about opinions I thought Berbs was a lot better than Keane and of course it was Keane's miscontrol that led to Wigan's goal - he also miscontrolled when clean through and in general he doesn't give anywhere near as much to the team's fluency and aerial ability as Berbs does

I don't like the term 'luxury player' but if we have one it's Keane cos when he's not scoring or assisting he really doesn't offer much - and yes I do like Robbie but player of the season - no way

It's also interesting that in another thread I said we could get by next season with Keane Bent Kitson and a young promising/decent but cheap 4th striker

and someone thought I was kidding - I wasn't but i took his point - substitute Berbs for Keane and would people disagree so much?

I actually said earlier today that I thought Berbatov would put us 1-0 after 6 minutes Eek Imagine the odds on that one

It's a dark day when Emile Heskey scores one against us.

Why? He scored against Chelsea the other day, and has found his level with Wigan.

He's a good striker, massively overrated when he was younger at Leicester and Liverpool (although his partnership and understanding with Owen was very good) and massively underrated by quite a few people after he left Liverpool.

Not a striker of international calibre, but a good Premier League striker for a bottom half team.

They are a team, it shouldn't be a battle as to who is the best player. Everyone knows Berbs when he actually tries is the best player in our team.
You say he is better, but that doesnt mean Keane wasnt good, as soon as he was subbed we completely lost our way. They are possibly the best strike partnership in the Prem
and we shouldnt be arguing over who is better, we should be please we have them both. Keane is probably the second best player in our team and does not need resting. They are a partnership.

take your point Lennon - we did lose our way after sub - but there are times when Keane does get to me - and today was one of them - and for people to say he was as good as Berbs today - sorry I can't see it

Hi Dc,

Keane is rarely if ever better than Berbatov, however this isn't really surprising as they are clearly at different levels as players. Keane is good and can sometimes be very good and Berbatov is world class.

Keane as player of the year over Berbatov, oh dear.

well said Legend - as you can probably see from other posts this lumping together of Keane and Berbs does my brain in - they are as you say different levels and their respective valuations are a good indication of this

Keane had one of his ineffectual games today - something he suffers far more from than Berbs

and as you say - player of the year over Berbs - how?

Berbs has more goals, more assists - more 'pre-assists' - ie crucial parts to play in goals and overall does far more effective link up work, target man work, winning the ball in the air - defending aerially - and on and on

it baffles me - but anyway good luck RK - you're still a Spurs legend for me -- but player of the year - no way

Wonder if Lennon's sudden improvement had anything to do with the widespread press speculation over his value including the 6mill figure bandied around .

We haven't seen him taking on his full back for yonks , then today he goes past the back AND the next defender too and more than once ....a real revelation..not to mention his assist for the goal .

Season best performance maybe ?
