I think I mentioned before when he signed his new contract, that he was ill-advised. Signing was not an issue, but a clause should have been inserted, which it wasn’t. Players who are signed to lesser clubs have them.
Maybe he didnt and doesnt want that clause? Is it so hard to believe a player has a bit of loyalty?

All of Palace's play is geared towards getting Zaha on the ball in dangerous areas. Son is one of 4 with us, and probably the one who gets the least focus. Think of it this way: Kevin Phillips, Marcus Stewart, Darren Bent, Wilifred Bony. Hell, last season Vardy scored 20 as Leicester fought relegation for most of the season, with Mahrez scoring 12 (the same amount as Son) in the same team.

You may say 'but Zaha is more of a wide player and they are all forwards' and you would be correct, but Son is also more of a wide player than a forward.

Zaha is a good player and if we signed him he'd definitely be more useful for us than several attacking players on our books, but with Son, Moura and Lamela all vying for at most 2 spots (and potentially only 1 a lot of the time) I just don't see Zaha as a necessary addition. That said, I love a dribbler and if we did get him I'd definitely enjoy watching him, but I just think there are areas in our squad (and first team in fact) more in need of new players.
I agree completely, the guy has skill and pace but we need more killer instinct than that. More average players than him have had better statistical seasons in clubs of a similar level. For 40mil yes, but not for 70. You'd be looking at signing Griezman for that sort of price.

Unlikely. But it's two Douglas Costas or four Yarmolenkos.

Apologies, I was still thinking in back in the day terms. That got you most of Bale and would probably have got you Griezman a few years ago. Ideally you'd like a Sanchez level player for that sort of cash.

I don't quite buy this reasoning that Zaha does well because Palace keep giving him the ball, everything goes through him, if that is the case then opposition clubs knew it and they made him the target of their defence which made it even harder for him than other players.
I am still of the opinion that he showed a level of loyalty last year and kept his end of the deal but maybe now feels that the club aren't keeping their's.

yeah he had multiple people marking him cuz they knew he was the only threat, with us opposition defenses couldn't afford to double team him without leaving Kane/etc less marked.

Could really help our attacking play.

being outspent by the likes of Everton and West Ham not really where we want to be..

Why ? It isn’t how much you spend but what quality of player you bring in. Let’s be honest both the Spammers and Everton have squads that require a lot of improvement. We on the other hand have great quality all over the pitch and it is difficult to find players of better quality that we can afford and want to come.

We would be the joke of the town if we sign Zaha for 70m FFS
Laughable statement.

Everton are about to pay £50 mill for a winger with one half good season behind him and Liverpool just paid over £60 mill for a keeper with one good season in the Champions League.

This is the market now - to buy a top home grown Prem League player of Zaha's ability this is the type of fee we may have to pay.

This is what Martial, Bailey or Pulisic would cost and he is easily in that league of player with a longer track record than any of them.

For £70M could we get Dybala From Juv? Jokes aside , Zaha is an interesting player , he has freekish skill I wondered about his final ball but apparently last season was a turning point in Zaha’s development.

If I had to pick between Zaha and Martial it would be Martial because I feel there’s more directness about his play and most importantly I look at match winners.

I agree with your overall point about the 1st team but we should be looking to improve on the likes of Sissoko and Llorente.

I appreciate we can’t sign world class players to sit on the bench like City but there’s too much of a drop in quality between 1st team and some squad players IMO.
