Wilfs running with the ball at high speed is utterly terrifying, he is incredibly skilful and has great close control. He has also shown that he will work hard for the team, chasing back.

Where he can obviously improve is finishing, he should be getting Sonny figures. I think Poch could make him even better.

JJ has been far more quiet in this window than any other I can remember.

My view on it is that he's trying to play things more carefully and be far less decisive due to what happened with Keita Balde. He seemed genuinely annoyed at the time that he'd near enough guaranteed that would happen only for it fall apart last minute.

Equally if he's close to the club, as he seems to be, then he may just be playing things down on purpose.

There's way too much smoke around this rumour to not be something more in it IMO.

If JJ isn’t positive this deal will happen then neither am I.

Even if does happen then it will need to start moving soon. Palace might be skint but £70m will be no good to them on the last day of the window.

Totally agree. That's the trouble with trying to do last minute deals with clubs that rely on one or two players for survival. Although 70 million is a significant amount, it's dwarfed by the amount of money that would be lost by being relegated from the premier league. I'm sure that Palace don't want to be reliant on Zaha season in and season out, they need time to get one or two decent players in and therefore time is running out.

They've had all season and I think Zaha believes that too. In the end a club is running itself badly if they are dependant on one player, one injury and they are buggered but to be honest I think Hodgson can get Palce playing good enough to stay up comfortably without him and they ought to know that too.
Been obvious we have needed more pace for a while and Zaha has it in spades so that'll do me.

Poch is infatuated with Zaha who more often than not flatters to deceive. Its frightening, to say the least. Poch's choices in transfer windows is almost as poor as his in game management, in all honesty.
Palace didn't win a game without him last season he is a player and can improve further with better players around him.

How are we going to keep Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lamela, Lucas, potentially Zaha and Grealish happy? That is a ridiculous amount of AM's to rotate through especially when Eriksen is starting every game he wants, Poch never freakin rotates Dele and that leaves one more spot for Son, Lucas, Lamela, and Zaha with Grealish relegated to cup games to fight it out with that group.

And no one to link the defense to all of those players.
We definitely need the options and Zaha brings something different to Son Lamela and even Lucus. He wins lots of free kicks and penalties and in general makes teams more cautious because of his skill and pace especially on the break.

Jordan! was on Talkshite last week discussing Zaha with both Palace and Spurs callers. He was very clear in that he sees Zaha as an exceptional player. However he also said he’s one player, one player doesn’t define a club. They may shine but it’s also the other 10 players on the pitch and the squad whom contribute to the clubs success.

He’s clearly not indispensable, if a suitable offer is made he will be allowed to leave.

Just for context and relevance to this thread, I'm pretty sure Gard's is talking about Zaha here...but does anyone know who this JaiP bloke is? Is it anyone on this forum?

He tweets as if he's ITK... :cautious:

He’s a loyal spurs fan. He is on this forum. He knows folk who are ITK; but he also respects their anonymity. How do I know ?
I know him. There’s really nothing more to it

I get the impression we're still hanging on in hope for Martial, and Herc was saying a deal could be done for Zaha and he wishes we'd just do it. I have to agree, I think Utd would enjoy messing us around on deadline day, especially knowing they could still move him abroad after the 9th.

JJs 'unlikely' tweet suggests to me that Zaha is not the priority target right now.

I think JJ's unlikely tweet is because he doesn't believe we're going to pay what Palace want - and if that's the case, where does that leave us? Do we move onto a third choice option?

From the posts Breezer has made on Zaha, I reckon lot of the leg work with the player and agent has been done but (surprise) the fee is the sticking point.

I think that Martial is off the menu and we have a mysterious player that would be very big and now waiting if that materialise otherwise we will go for Zaha (hopefully).

The fact that nothing is known about that third option - with Pulisic ruled out - suggests that it could be a major deal, if poch thinks its worth waiting for his answer and make highly regarded Zaha second choice...

But you know - i would rate this post optimistic myself :ROFLMAO:

I guess we carry on with what we have, we aren't too short in attack with Lamela and Moura now fit. What impact that will have on Poch and our players in terms of perceived ambition is more of a concern however. We'd need to knock it out of the park with the mystery CM I guess.

He'd definitely do it for me too if they're prepared to sell.

It's funny, I've spent all summer saying its important the club shoots for the stars and doesn't settle for 3rd or 4th choices (mainly in the A.Plea thread), but here I am with two weeks left hoping we just go and get the Zaha deal done. Although he is a much higher quality 'fall back option' than we usually have!

Another good thing about Zaha is not only is he super talented he’s had the summer off and done a good preseason so far.

He’ll be ready to go first game of the season without needing to get fit or used to the league.

So on that basis it don’t think it’ll happen

Zaha will add a totally different dimension to our game.

The ability to run at pace with the ball and beat a man is something we haven't had for quite some time.

I keep seeing this. Why did we buy Lucas Moura then? I thought that was what he was bringing to the team?

tbh i think if Zaha would not play for a relegation battling team we would freaking out about the possibility to sign him.

I really rate him and think his style of play would improve us more than Martials

Pretty much all the teams outside the top 6 just sit back against us now, hoping to get a goal on the counter.

It's frustrating to watch 90 mins of us trying to break that kind of team down.

A player like Zaha would help so much
