I keep seeing this. Why did we buy Lucas Moura then? I thought that was what he was bringing to the team?

I'm hopeful that Moura can step up this year, but we are clearly targeting a Martial/Zaha type for a reason, not just to keep people at the club busy in the off season.

tbh i think if Zaha would not play for a relegation battling team we would freaking out about the possibility to sign him.

I really rate him and think his style of play would improve us more than Martials

Martial is more accurate and direct but Zaha brings so many qualities with his trickery and raw power that can help against teams both sitting deep against us and playing a high defensive line. I can see why Pochettino thinks he'd add a lot because not only does he get one of the fastest players going in his ranks, he gets a player able to put a defender on his backside and he also gets someone who can act as forward in times where we are short in that department. 3 rolled into 1 and we know much much Pochettino values diversity in his ranks

I personally would love to see Zaha, Lucas and Son all rotating behind Kane in the odd game here and there.

Could be perfect when giving Eriksen and Alli a rest.

Pretty much all the teams outside the top 6 just sit back against us now, hoping to get a goal on the counter.

It's frustrating to watch 90 mins of us trying to break that kind of team down.

A player like Zaha would help so much

I'd argue an intelligent and quick passer would help us more against a packed defence rather than someone that can dribble and run fast but that argument has been done to death on here.

Parish was on Talkshite last week discussing Zaha with both Palace and Spurs callers. He was very clear in that he sees Zaha as an exceptional player. However he also said he’s one player, one player doesn’t define a club. They may shine but it’s also the other 10 players on the pitch and the squad whom contribute to the clubs success.

He’s clearly not indispensable, if a suitable offer is made he will be allowed to leave.

Pretty sure that was Simon Jordan the ex-palace chairman rather than Steve Parish the current chairman.

It would also allow us to experiment with playing Eriksen and Alli deeper, which I'd love to see.

I'd say we need both, we have become too predictable and we need options especially off the bench, our bench play has been nothing short of terrible the past 2 seasons.

I've been waiting for Eriksen to drop deeper for years. Alli I'm not so sure about, the few times he has dropped deep, like WBA home last season, he hasn't impressed.

I want both,

when Eriksen, Winks or Lamela is on/near the ball they will be wary.

when Zaha/Lucas are on the ball, they will be wary.

I'm desperate for Dele to learn that role because his runs would be harder to track and we could get more pace up-top, one of the weaknesses for dele is his pace and unfortunately he slows down a lot of counters when he's on the ball.

So in theory that runs with what you're saying. Sanchez is our most expensive signing and Richarlison is £10m more so it'll cos us £10m to sign a player that's talent wise not as good as what we already have.

Every deal and it's value varies, people can't take one particular deal as a benchmark for others that will happen along the way.

If you offered me the chance to spend nearly £100m of our hard earned and well looked after funds on Siggurdsson & Richarlison or wait until we have better to spend that money on, I'd honestly rather wait

Wise words are not tolerated here.

--------------Kane
--------------Zaha
--------------Son

Son---------Eriksen--------Lamela
Alli-------------Alli-------------Moura
Zaha--------Lamela----------Zaha

I quite like the flexibility that our forward players allow us - Zaha could be a good fit, I have always had reservations about his decision making and execution in the final 3rd, but he has undoubted quality. The fact he is adept at playing on either wing and now also has experience of playing up top means that I am coming round to the idea...

And then if you also had the acquisition of Grealish, it could open up Eriksen to player deeper alongside a DM. All in all we could finally be in a position where we can put out very strong squads in all competitions and take the domestic cups seriously.

when Zaha/Lucas are on the ball, they will be wary.

The way I look at it is that both are viable options.

Liverpool scored 84 goals with a bang average midfield and 3 pacey/direct/tricky attackers. City played 2 creative geniuses (KDB/Silva) AND 2 pacey tricky and direct attackers (Sane/Sterling), scoring over 100 goals, a new record.

More goals - win games more comfortably - less physical and mental exertion. Plus it puts fear into the opposition.

IMHO in Eriksen we have one of the best footballers on the planet, who has already started gravitating into deeper positions to dictate games. If we can find a way to use him deeper and add another dynamic attacker I think we could easily get 85+ next season.

Son-Kane-Zaha has potential to be at the very least as deadly as Liverpool's attack, and if you add a true world class talent in Eriksen behind then teams will be scared. If we could add a top class ball playing CM then our squad would be ridiculously good.

I think he’ll be competing with Lucas, Son and Lamela for the two spots behind Kane.

This means the midfield will be Wanyama or Dier holding with Dele, Eriksen, Dembele and Winks competing for the two spots either side of the holder.

Give any of Son, Eriksen, Alli, Lucas or Zaha space 20-30 yards from goal and at least once over 90 minutes you're going to regret it. Hopefully this threat (we could conceivably field any 4 of those 5 at once) will make teams think twice about sticking 8 men in their own box and in turn give Kane a bit more space to operate.

Yep Spartan I like your line of thinking.

We are only that one player away from being frightening in attack.

And it's been like that for about 3 seasons now. Every year we seem to just be one player short in attack. Let's hope this summer we get one.
