Seen this debate around a bit.
My ideal summer would be zero outs (maybe a striker or two) and a two strikers in. I guess from reading on here most would be reasonably happy with that.

In the unlikely event that our superior team spirit, mentality and damn good looks don't see off the evil Manchester empire and we finish 5th, get to the CL final but lose to Shalke after a bad lasangne and thus aren't in the Champion's League next season can we keep all of our most 'desired' players?

Vote for the player most likely to leave or for a confident 'They'll all stay'

Yes they will stay. The idea that there will be a mass departure if we finish fifth is a myth.

They'll all stay. All have long term contracts. All see the future vision. The only reason any leave is a)a bust up happens or b)we decide to sell.

I tried to make a post in the "On The Line" forum, but I can't post in there.

Think they'll stay.
Think we'll finish fourth.

As I have said in a couple of other threads, we are in the enviable position of having players on the bench, or not even getting on the bench, who are in dmeand.
We can sell them, and hardly miss them, but raise some cash, to add to our pot :)shifty: of money). So we truly do not need to sell any of the above.
At the same time, we have them all on long contracts, and none of them pushing for a move - which basically means we can extort the living daylights out of any club who pushes it (and then pull a 'Zenit' anyway).

If we were to let any of them go, it would most likely be THudd - but only due to the rise of SadroRanieri (not that I am advocating selling the Thudd).

I think we're more likely to have a problem keeping them if we don't make into the CL the season after this.

None of course .

What possibly could our players see in a trebling of their wages and a realistic chance of winning something...

i think if anyone goes it could be VDV but he does love london and we fit his style of play..

i would think they will all stay and agree its more likely that a modric or bale could leave the season after next if we miss out two seasons running.

I want Pav to stay but he is the one most likely and our best stiker IMHO

I think Bale might go

The only other one I'd worry about is VDV. He might start throwing his toys out of the pram. Hopefully he'll be able to persuade a top striker to sign.

God willing we sign Samuel Eto this summer and we secure top 4 for the next few years

Agree with the above, I have no reason to believe they will seek pastures new, regardless of the eventual outcome this season will bring.

All under contract, all seemingly happy with life at Spurs and as long as assurances are made for future development and progression of the club, should have no reason to look elsewhere in the league for competitiveness - this squad, baring the obvious striking hole(s) is as good as any other.

The only reason they would seek a move IMO would be financial which should not necessarily be sneered at for being mercenary but I would like to think this won't be the case.

They've all seen continuous improvement since harry arrived, and will want to give us at least one season to get back on this trajectory, should we fall off, for various reasons.

Bale has had two great seasons personally, and is decent enough both to feel he owes us one, and to not deliberately sign a new contract whilst planning to leave. Also, he probably knows another season here will be better for him than Real or Barca just yet, and the other English clubs aren't all that. Modders is a cryptic character, but you nonetheless feel he is unusually loyal, partly because of the heart he plays with. He only endured half a season of the Ramos debacle, then an uninterrupted upwards trajectory. The club have thus far delivered on whatever realistic ambition they could have outlined for him, plus he has a very young kid - all the arguments are on the side of his loyalty rather than his ambition.

Hudd and Lennon - we are their level, and they know it. Plus they wouldn't want to break up their bromance.

VDV is the only one I'm slightly worried about. He does have a big ego and seems a somewhat restless character, and maybe therefore unpredictable. But he also doesn't appear overweeningly ambitious, whilst coming across as quite realistic and relaxed, if this doesn't contradict the ego and restlesness too much. I reckon he'll stay because he can see the futility in moving to one of the five or so clubs bigger than us who aren't one of the very top level who won't want him.

I think there is a difference this time around compared to when Carrick, Berbatov and Keane left. There is a belief that this team could actually achieve things.

Whether or not we finish in the top 4, we have done enough this season to show that we can compete with the best. Perhaps without the distraction of Champions League we may even fair better in the league next time around.

We have also improved our reputation with our performances in the Champions League and players will want to play for us. Moreover, Redknapp has greatly increased his reputation and players will want to play for him. He has had praise left, right and centre from the likes of Mourinho and Guardiola. Tottenham Hotspur now comes with a big reputation.

When was the last team a newbie to the Champions League left such an impression? There is much to be proud about and plenty to be confident in. I think it is unlikely that any of our top players will leave this summer.
