If he goes there over us I will presume either we dropped out or were never actually in it and just wanted to f with them.

Pros for joining us

Better stadium
Champions League
French Captain + Sissoko and Ndombele
Better CBs to learn from
Better manager to learn from
Better training facilities

Pros for joining them

Higher wage ceiling (although that won't impact him for now)
More likely to play quickly
History of French success (before he was old enough to watch)
More trophies (ditto)
Does more trophies really matter all that much? Genuine question.

Ive often wondered about this. I'm a Yank, and live in the States, so American Football is king here, and the whole trophies thing...I mean, if it was recent, sure, but nobody signs with the Buccaneers because they won a Super Bowl in 2002 or whenever it was.

I would think the whole "we won trophies" thing would have a shelf life.

A lot of people in football talk about "they've been here before", "they know how to win things" etc. based on historic victories. I don't think it makes much difference.

Appreciate Arsenal fans announcing their outrage at the decline of the club whilst a top target decides whether Spurs or Arsenal is best for his future?.

Think there are the hardcore fans. Usually local that were brought up supporting the team, taken to games as a kid. But you also have fans that chose that team but became fanatical. To them, trophies are a bonus.
Then you have the fair weather fans. Not that bothered but like being a part of it. Might have been lifelong fans but only bothered when they are doing well.
You have fans that follow a player. My cousin was from lancashire but loved lineker and supported whatever club he was at.

Depends on the person.

But love and hate are closely tied. It can hurt being disappointed.

I doubt it, was struggling for any pros for them right now.
There is a fantastic pro for them which we often argued in the past years - playing time. There simply are no cb's at Arsenal that a talented prospect with even a modicum of self confidence would fear competing against.

Forgot one.

Pick a team just for conversation value. It is something to talk about to new people. Travelling asia the locals (men mostly) would ask what's your name? Were you from? What football team do you support?
It is a bonding tool.

Conversely, he will see he would be lining up next to Mustafi as their current captain (another French centre back) is basically on strike to leave them. the pressure of being the one to mend their dogshit defence might be too much for a young player. If his agents have any sense, they'd guide him to joining Poch at Spurs.

I don’t think Daniel Levy will get lured into an amateurish bidding war like this somehow, if true. He’d just walk away without a second thought.

Agree. His main aim might of already been accomplished anyway. Getting arsenal to pay more for a player than they originally wanted to.

Agree with you. + Jan Vertonghen speaks french and he could be his CB partner. + we have more players speaking french.

The conspiracist in me sees this as something put out by Arsenal tbh. They're such a shambles at the moment that making out Saliba picked themselves over us would be something to shout about. That or its from the St Ettiene side to up the fee.
