what a boring news break. his tone of voice was funky

'HERE WE ARE WITH WILLIAN IN HIS LONDON HOTEL!............... talks are ongoing for a 5 year deal..... he's very much tottenham bound!"

Jim White is a chelsea fan isn't he? Will secretly be a bit jealous of our spending maybe (not compared to Chelsea's obviously, but just because we are making some great moves)

Think its because they got the bit about completing a medical tomorrow wrong. Medical appears to be done

Yeah, I think that might have been it. The 5 year deal thing came straight from Willian. Unless he ran out of the hotel yelling "Fuck Tottenham, I'm outta here!" I think we will most likely announce him tomorrow or, as I mentioned earlier, Friday.

Tomorrow is match day though. How many times have we announced it on the day of a game? Would make sense now, or Friday morning to me. Unless we do announce it in the morning, which gives the fans out there a massive lift and gets an incredible atmosphere going in the away end meaning the players are up and we smash Tbilisi 8-0.

Okay, I've just convinced myself it's happening tomorrow!

Oh right, because every club do their contract talks after the medical don't they. Also hasn't Willian himself stated that he's agreed a 5 year contract?

I think they jumped the gun with it being agreed that's all. Going to reword it and put it back up.

we announced Adebayor & Falque on a match day. I think it was quite close to kick-off time too as i was already in the ground when the news came through.

It's strange that he has completed medical before all terms have been agreed isn't it?? Should mean he will be available for Sunday tho surely

Deals normally work in the same format, do they not ?

Agree terms with player and agents.
Agree fee with club.
Medical.
Sign.

If this is the case, surely they're waiting on work permit clearance or some other technicality before confirming ? I can't imagine we'd still be sorting terms out at this late stage.

Usually the announcement comes subject to both medical and work permit. Makes me believe this deal isn't as far down the line as SSN suggests. Probably has talks over a deal today and given the night to think it over.

I guess not always, as there are a number of occasions when teams agree a fee but the player is unable to agree terms with the club.

Technically speaking it's got to be Club > Player > Medical > Sign, as without agreeing a fee the player wouldn't be allowed to speak to another club. But in reality I'm sure it happens as you've suggested.

Why do people take SSN's word as gospel. They're always behind transfer news.

Exactly. it's only an hour or so ago that they were QUOTING Willian as saying he had completed the first part of his medical & was doing the second part tomorrow.
