I swear, every year, in every round the bastards put the players I want to see on first. All the shit players play in the evenings. :-(

My long-shot for the ladies singles is Caroline Wozniaki. Right at the bottom of the draw. 1000/1 with BetFred.

Ah with the Baghdatis and Vaidisova again?! Neither has a shot. Baghdatis is so out of form its silly (mind you same could have been said about Ivanovic leading up to the French)

I'm gonna stick my neck out and see Federer for the title (really it is the most open men's in years could see some major major shocks within the first few rounds). I'll pick Maria in the Ladies assuming she is fully recovered from her injury problems.

Tir of the first round? Gulbis v Isner, winner faces Nadal in the second round. Before the draw i would have picked both as dangerous outsiders, the chance to see them square off for the chance to play the in form player is a great first round. Could be a lot of aces though. I expect Gulbis to prevail.

For the Doubles, I'd pick Bryan Brothers, but they generally tend to struggle a little off the hard courts.

I was talking to Jamie Murray yesterday and he seemed pretty confident. Him and Mirnyi have a very good chance on the grass. Both are good grass court players (Mirnyi's gone fairly deep in the singles in the past, 4th round on 3 occasions) and they will have home support.

I'm not saying either are going to win it, but I've followed both closely for the last few years, and I love the way both of them play. If Vaidisova can sort out her temperament within the next year or so, she certainly has a shot.

To whoever mentioned Wozniacki, I have links to her. She's way too young though. Wont have the strength mentally or physically to compare up to a lot of the ladies. I know Sharapova did it young, seemingly coming from nowhere, but I think it's unlikely it'll happen again so soon.

Though I may be shouted down for this, I think that Nadal might be able to nip it from Roger this year--he's been playing some great tennis, with a recent win on grass where he looked like he knew what he was doing.

Here's to hoping that Roddick fails spectacularly (not only on the court, but in every endeavor in the future as well)...

(I don't like Roddick very much )

Heh. I haven't seen Bartoli play at all since last Wimbledon, her service action has really changed. She used to have a really creepy stance at the beginning of the serve, then rush the flowing part. It looks almost normal now. Still does the double-handed forehand though. Odd.

I was on number one court yesterday and saw a Canadian called Dancevic destroy Nalbandian. It may have been because Nalbandian didn't seem interested. But this guy serves and volleys very well and so could do well here. Also saw Hewitt struggle against a Dutch guy called Haase who was good but Hewitt made hard work of it. He used to be unplayable a few years ago and now he would struggle to compete with the Roddick, Nadal, Federer axis in my opinion. Nice woman though, ex Home and Away!!

Nice, hope you had a good day there.

Nalbandian isn't playing well at all right now, he got destroyed at Queen's two weeks ago. There are some tasty second round matches, should be very interesting. Djokovic v Safin and Gulbis (assuming he wins today) v Nadal (assuming he wins today) stand out in particular.

The Beck vs Nadal match has been quite good so far, looks to be heading into a tie break.

I remember watching Haase in the Davis against GB last year. Looks well like RVN.

Just watching Jankovic beating Savchuk. Why is the womans always so crap in the early rounds?

That being said I wouldn't mind Jankovic winning the womans title.

If you could win matches by serving power alone, Chris Eaton would have Wimbledon sewn up. He just served a game of aces, bringing his total to 26, and has made countless amounts of unreturnable serves. Shame the rest of his game (barring a bit of serve-volleying) is pretty average.

Heh, he's through. Play's Tursunov in the next round. I think he best hope that Tursunov throws another hissy and walks off court.

I just want to say well done to a friend of mine, Jamie Baker. He got beaten easily, but it was great to see him back out there at Wimbledon after his serious illness. I was amazed when he told me he was going to play and although it was always going to be a tough ask he did himself credit.

As for the second round, some great ties in the mens, Gulbis v Nadal, Djokovic v Safin, Murray v Malisse. In the women's there is Williams v Keothavong (second Brit in a row to take on the reigning champ) and the unbelievable Wozniak v Wozniacki (seriously can you imagine being the umpire )

My girl Nicole safely through to the round of 16, unlike somebody's pick. She's got the fucking Sharapova wannabe, Chakvetadze, next.

For me, it's wide open for the Williams' now. Kuznetsova will crumble as soon as she plays a more competative player, similarly with Jankovic. Both have had pretty kind draws so far. I'd personally love to see Safina come through and win it, but on grass it isn't going to happen.

Been impressed with Vaidisova, she has played well and has a good game for grass. A lot of players are stuggling on the grass this year. In the women's its nice, Sharapova just tried to thump the ball and got beaten by a player who thought about the points a little more and the same can be said about Ivanovic who also was a bit one dimensional and got completely outplayed. Would love to see someone with some guile win the ladies, but I expect it will be someone who just hits it hard.

The Men's has been great so far, I thought Tipsarevic was absolutely awesome last night against Roddick. Nadal v Gulbis was great. If Gulbis learns when to go for it and improves his movement a bit he could get right to the top, his shot making is astounding. Hughy's other pick Baghdatis is doing well too. Top half has some very good grass court players, Federer, Hewitt, Baghdatis, Ancic, even Safin who with some confidence is unplayable at times. Bottom half is quite open, obviously there is Nadal, then Murray and Gasquet and then a load of players who have pulled of big wins. Enjoying what I've seen so far, and not much rain either .
