Yes but my point was not that he does either of those shots but that he does them when he shouldn't. With drop shots even he admitted this, through body language, and as for the sliced returns that is fine when the serve is fierce and in the corner but when it is short, central and slow then it is a complete waste to give the opponent another chance.

Yes, but he always does it. He always plays too many drop shots when he shouldn't and he knows it. I remember him playing drop shots from behind the baseline when he was about 7, he can't help himself. I think it is an instictual thing.

murray has run nadal very close in their previous meetings. he was 2 sets to 1 up at the aussie open and they played in the madrid masters too, which was a great match.

the winner of the nadal-murray match will play schuettler or clement for a place in the final. they would have to fancy their chances of getting to the final if they win the QF.

As for Murray, yesterday was hardly the first time he's played way too many dropshots. It is part of his game, always has been ever since he was a kid. Also I like the returns where he takes the pace off, he definately needs to do that sometimes against Nadal, as well as play plenty of slice, use the angles, chip charge etc. If he just tries to drive everything he will always be second best.

Andy is hitting it hard and deep and Nadal is just pummling him, Nadal can use all the pace to get ridiculous ammounts of spin on the ball. He needs to mix it up a lot more. I think has only hit one drop shot all match. :shrug:

That is brought up every time as a reason to not like him. It's the kind of thing everybody else says all the time about the French or the Germans, he just made a mistake saying it to the press and it was pretty tongue in cheek. It was very naive.

I've known him for a pretty long time now and he is a decent guy. He's fairly quiet off court, keeps himself to himself, but is a good guy. Jamie, his brother is a top bloke and I am in touch with him fairly often.

I agree he is very intense on court and and is very confident. I'm not sure he would be unsportsman like though.

Bjorkman/Ullyett vs Bryan/Bryan got rained off with Bjorkman/Ullyett on match point. Been a great game. Just about to get back underway

Bjorkman's last year on the tour i believe and Ullyett is in his mid 30's as well. Been watching them a lot this week and they have schooled the Bryan brothers at times.

Now having said that the Bryans are going to save match point, win the set and then kick their arse in the 5th set. I hope not though as i'm always a sucker for ageing players having one last go at winning a Wimbledon title.

Congratulations to young Laura Robson for winning the Girl's Singles today. She's got a really cool head on her, it can't be easy coming out in front of 13,000 people for the first time, but she didn't have a problem with it. Fucking huge serve on her, too. She hit a second serve at over 100m/h, which you don't see a lot of the women in the main draw even doing. Brilliant interview after the match, too. Good luck to her in the future. :up:
