I don't know why we're so reluctant to pull the trigger but I wish we would just invest in a young striker with power and pace..... doesn't need to be the finished article by any means, but lets take a calculated risk and buy someone like Benteke for £5-10m before he becomes worth £20m.

In an ideal world: Sell Chiriches, Townsend, Lennon. Sign Musacchio, Depay and Rodriguez.

In reality: we'll sell Chiriches, Lennon and Soldado, get linked to Schneiderlin and Bony all month, then loan Richard Dunne and Bobby Zamora on the last day.

Is like us to shift one of paulinho or Dembele. If there's a replacement gettable then fine, if not rely on mason for this season.

Also try to shift one of Lennon/townsend and get Rodriguez

Still think we need to sell/replace 7 players or so to clear the squad of mediocrity

We will pretend to go for the better players, then end up with the cheaper options again, I'm not doing it to myself again until either, the stadium is paid for and bringing money in or Enic fuck off for good.

Vlad and Paulinho out. That'll do. Definitely time to promote from within, recall Pritchard and press on.

I really want to see us bring in a attacking creative player, Jay Rod is all well and good but he is not going to add anything to our creative game. Morgan would be a very good signing and would add to our lack of creativity some what, but we really need someone who can take on players, play through balls and get the odd goal. Obviously he would probably be out of our price range but someone like Firmino of Hoffenhiem would be ideal. I think both Eriksen and Lamela will someday do that to devastating effect but we need one more player on the left who is maybe a little farther along in in their development then those two.

If we don't look like challenging come January we should simply clear more of the dead weight. I'd look to sell 4/5 if possible, including Paulinho, Soldado, Chiriches and Townsend. Loan for Bentaleb. I'd wait until next summer before bringing anyone in unless there is a good opportunity.

There simply isn't enough natural football intelligence in this squad. I'm talking about football nouse, an innate quality that separates the good players from average ones. The kind of nouse that instinctively tells a player, when to move, where to move, whether to hold the ball or move it on, the ability to read the game and adjust your positioning, the ability to see an attacking situation unfold in your head before it happens etc etc.

I agree with the previous poster who said we need to bring in ceative players or give a chance to some more of our Development Squad many of whom, based on the many positive comments they get in the dedicated youth thread, surely couldn't be any worse than the present incumbents?

There are a lot I'd like to see the back of but realistically it will most likely result in one sale and a loan in January. We need to make it our number 1 priority to bring in Jay Rodriguez though.

I'm still shocked that people actually expect us to do business in January. We DESPERATELY needed a striker in the winter windows in 2011, 2012, and 2013 and spent virtually nothing to bring in first team players. There's overwhelming evidence from the last EIGHT transfer windows that our incoming transfer fees must match our outgoing transfer fees. Given that, how do some of you expect us to make any signings this winter when Levy will only have a finite amount of time to negotiate the sale and purchase of players. Even Jay Rodriguez is an incredibly difficult signing, as Southampton will want decent money for him irrespective of his contract, and I simply cannot see Levy offering them anything more than they'll likely get if they decide to wait 6 months to sell him in the summer.

It's very unfortunate for Pochettino, but I think he'll have to make do with the current squad until next summer. It's possible then that Levy will move on a number of players (including those we don't want to see go) to raise enough cash for Pochettino to have the month of August to bring a few quality players that'll fit his system.

Perhaps someone like Berahino at West Brom? Probably available for £7-£8m. Young, seems to know where the net is. Could do a lot worse IMO.

But like so many, would he be available in January? Cant believe West Brom would sell him while on a high for £7-8M, certainly not in January.

They sold Long last year to Hull in Jan so maybe a decent offer would tempt them. Irvine said he wouldn't stand in his way if a big club came in:

"And if in the end he goes somewhere else - and it's a move that is seen as taking his career to the next level, then that'd be fantastic and he'd go with our blessing.

"So the message is to carry on playing well and scoring loads of goals - if he does that we'll all be happy."

Yep, think he (Berahino) would be a very good buy, wouldn't surprise at all if we made a move for hm.

Not sure where exactly we are supposed to discuss this stuff out side the window, but check the Sc ITK forum for a couple of posts from trix.

We finally got rid of Defoe mark 1 last Jan I would rather us not go after Defoe mark 2 this Jan.

I'd much rather give a young player like this a chance along side Kane and perhaps Rodriguez than stick with Adebayor tbh. Berahino has been linked with clubs bigger than us. Would be a super option and would be relatively cheap. Worth a risk.
